I get asked this ALL the time in my chair

What do you prefer to use to curl hair?

Whether you use a flat iron, curling iron or wand - what you use to curl your hair is completely personal and no option is better than the other because it's all about what you prefer!

I’m gonna break down some of the pros and cons of each!

Curling Iron

Pros: You have more control over the size and shape of your curls and are able to achieve more uniform curls. Curling irons easily provide smooth curls/waves with minimal flyaways and frizz. Curling Iron curls tend to last a long time, especially when finished with hairspray.

Cons: Because the barrel is a set size, you are limited and would need multiple tools to achieve different looks. Usually a curling iron on long or short hair takes practice and patience to master.

Curling Wand

Pros: Curling wands are great for quick/messy curls and touch ups and can sometimes have interchangeable barrels for more sizing options

Cons: You have a great chance of burning yourself and can be hard to master

Flat Iron

Pros: You’re able to achieve different types of curls with one single tool. Also, flat irons provide a more even distribution of heat over the hair allowing the curls to last much longer. Because you can curl and straighten with a flat iron, it's a great investment tool.

Cons: Learning to curl with a flat iron can be a bit of a learning curve and not every flat iron is ideal for curling.
