Gestational diabetes is a real thing in pregnancy. Women become naturally more insulin resistant in the 3rd trimester. A disservice (in my opinion) is leaning on the standard of care glucose test for pregnant women. This is not a reliable measurable of blood sugar trends that could be impacting both mom and baby.

Testing your blood sugar (fasted in the morning then 1 hour after eating) with either a CGM or glucose monitor for a week or 2 is going to give your a realistic recording of your blood sugar trends and how you are tolerating carbs and sugar. To manage your blood sugar during pregnancy and third trimester especially, eat a clean, lower carb, sugar free, high protein diet. Walking and/or doing squats post meal can also blunt a glucose spike by 30-40%.
