two weeks off work and social media (mostly) does wonderful things to the brain!! i’m deleting all socials for the month of august- if you need an appointment, please call/email the salon or book online!

during my trip, i kept thinking about how much of our lives we share in this online space. i fully take part in the creation and consumption here, and there are good things happening, but i feel a pull to take a break. to dial in my energy and live my little life without the influence of anything else for a bit.

see y’all in september. 💛

i loooove getting the honor of coloring someone’s hair for the first time! my sweet client trusted me with her daughter’s hair to do something subtle and easy to maintain. swipe for the inspiration pic. i think we nailed it! 👏

coming up on 6 years of being a small business owner. on top of being a hair stylist, so many hours have been spent working on the finer details that mostly go unnoticed. sometimes i have to tell myself, “you are a boss bitch. don’t let anyone stop you,” or else the imposter syndrome might take over. owning a business has been a true test of my dedication and resilience, of my ability to flow/grow when life throws curveballs. and does it! immensely grateful every day for all that this journey has taught me and continues to teach me, and for all of you who have supported me unconditionally. i may be a boss bitch, but i wouldn’t be one without y’all! 💛

“i want to insist that our being alive is beautiful enough to be worthy of replication. and so what? so what if all i ever made of my life was more of it?” -ocean vuong

so many years of my life i’ve spent feeling directionless, wondering what the hell i’m doing… but i never questioned my purpose in being your mama. i’m most me when i’m with you. thank you thank you thank you for choosing me in this life. don’t know where i’d be without ya. 💛

summer ready ☀️

When I first became a mom, I didn’t understand how important it was to prioritize myself. I poured everything into mothering, and it left me feeling burnt out and, well, like I needed a damn hobby!

It’s been a process over the years to learn what I really need to feel like my best self. A lot of the time, that means staying home and crashing early. Exercising when I really don’t feel like it. Taking time off work to make sure I don’t have mental burn out. That last one is kinda new for me!

And on that note, I’m back at work after a short trip to NM! It’s been so good to take time off for myself. I’m highly considering a 4 day work week for the remainder of the year! 😝

5 TIPS FOR EXTENDING YOUR WASH LIFE:

1. Keep your hands out of your hair! The less it’s touched, the less oily your hair gets.

2. Brush daily. This helps to redistribute those oils from your scalp down to your ends, which also helps to keep your ends from dying out!

3. Have back up hairstyles on no-wash days. Messy buns, braids, half up bun, etc.

4. Use dry shampoo.

5. Use professional quality shampoo. If you’re starting off without properly cleansed hair, you won’t get the results you’re looking for!

Let’s play a game! I’ll tell you two truths and one lie. You guess which one is the lie in the comments!

•I used to rock a shaved head.

•I’m a certified doula, but haven’t started practicing.

•I used to manage a restaurant.

I’ll report back later in my stories with the answer! (And if you know the answer, don’t give it away! 😜)

“Will purple shampoo help my blonde look brighter?”

This is a question I get often, so let’s dive in. Purple shampoo is used for neutralizing unwanted yellow tones.

To some, yellow tones look bright and summery. And to others, yellow is brassy.

To some, purple shampoo makes their blonde ashier and feel brighter. And to others, it starts to feel dull and gray.

It’s all about your personal preferences!

I recommend using purple shampoo as a “toning treatment” as needed. (Not every shampoo!) I think purple shampoo is a great tool for at home maintenance in between salon appointments.

Are you utilizing this option at home? If so, how often?

What have y’all been reading?!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a book post! I’ve read twelve books so far this year, and I’m currently reading a couple of nature books, including The Lost Art of Reading Nature’s Signs by Tristan Gooley. It’s taught me how to read my direction without using a compass and that’s pretty cool! 🤓

Leave a comment telling me what’s on your reading list!

Hey! Slow your scroll!

The time to get on a hair routine is NOW. Our hair takes on damage from UV rays, excess styling to avoid that humidity frizz, and all the ponytails and buns we do in the summer months. Getting that perfect lineup of products is key to healthy hair year round.

My top 4 recommendations? Shampoo, conditioner/mask, leave in heat protection spray, and a lightweight oil. Everyone is different though, so ask me about your hair needs so we can set you up for healthy hair this summer! ☀️
