Hello, friends!! December is here and so are all the twinkly lights, cozy vibes and festive chaos we secretly love.
This is the season when families gather, neighbors wave a little more warmly and even the grumpiest among us manage to smile. It’s a time for celebrating connection, whether that’s around a dinner table, on a church pew, at a community event or in the salon chair.

And speaking of the salon chair, if you haven’t booked your holiday appointment yet, consider this your friendly nudge. December books up fast and we want to make sure you’re feeling fabulous for every photo, party, performance and ugly sweater gathering you’ve got on your calendar.

As we enjoy all the sparkle this month brings, let’s also remember those in our community who could use a little extra love. Starting in January: CHAIR FOR RENT AT SALON NINE SEVEN
We’re excited to share that Salon Nine Seven has a chair available for rent! Don’t worry, our team is still fully intact. In fact, this opportunity became available simply because two of our stylists will be happily sharing a station as part-timers, creating space for one more talented professional to join us.

This chair comes with incredible potential for growth. Within the next year, more than 200 luxury apartments will be opening directly behind the salon and an additional 19 townhomes are being built just a block away. Our little corner of Old Town Lilburn is expanding quickly and we’re ready to welcome someone who wants to grow with us.

At Salon Nine Seven, we’re proud to be a community-rooted, positivity-driven salon. Our space radiates good energy. From the laughter between clients and stylists to the feeling of knowing you’ve made someone’s day a little brighter. Here, it’s never just about making people look good; it’s about helping them feel good, understood and genuinely cared for.

New Team Members Alert!- We are thrilled to welcome two new faces to our front desk. Please help us give a warm Salon Nine Seven welcome to Kyla and Ally, our new receptionists. They have both already jumped right in with bright smiles, a calm presence and a knack for keeping everything running smoothly. We know you’re going to love them as much as we do!

New Booking Option- We’re excited to highlight something a little different but oh-so-magical: Megan’s Tarot Readings. She’s offering 15-minute readings for $25 and 30-minute readings for $45. Whether you’re looking for clarity, inspiration or just a fun new experience, it’s a beautiful way to pause and connect and even make a processing time a little more mystic.

Accepting Donations- Harmony Grove United Methodists Church Little Pantry and coat donations to Camp Creek Elementary- We're collecting non-perishable food items, hats, gloves, ear warmers and socks for the Little Pantry. In addition, winter coats will be happily accepted at the salon and taken to Camp Creek Elementary.

Take a Plant! If you are visiting the salon in the near future and love plants, please accept the gift of a "Creeping Inch Plant" from us. These little air purifying beauties were grown with love at E.M.B.A.R.C Community Youth Farm and then planted in little French yogurt jars Nicky and her daughter saved.

Hair Extensions with Fifi- Interested in having long, full and luxurious hair for the holidays? Book a consultation for extensions with Fifi! She does extensions that can be quickly installed, do not damage the hair, look super natural and are very affordably priced. You can get the extension hair moved up every six weeks for up to a year. Holiday Products- Box sets for the holidays make amazing gifts! Currently we have Surface Curls, Awaken, and Basssu. Also included: Curls, Awaken and Amika travel sized sets. Essentially, you are getting a third product for nearly free by purchasing a set.

Pricing Increase- Due to increases in expenses, we have collectively decided as a salon to meet the demands of the economy and slightly increase our prices. As we are independent contractors, this will vary between stylist, but generally this increase will be between 6-7%. Siiiiiiiix Seeeeeeeven!!! Sorry! Check with your stylist for more information. Introducing: Welcome Space Project

Creating a kinder, more connected world—together.

Nicky is so excited to finally introduce you to something that has been growing in her heart for a long time: The Welcome Space Project. This nonprofit was born from a belief that our communities can be more compassionate, more inclusive, and more understanding—one conversation, one business, and one beautifully brave human at a time.

Our mission is simple but important:
To help create a world where everyone feels seen, welcomed, and supported.
We’ll be doing this through community education, workshops, business partnerships, and an online directory (coming soon!) that highlights spaces committed to inclusivity, awareness, and kindness.

FAMILY SUPPORT RESOURCE- This season reminds us how deeply we’re all connected and how important it is to look out for one another. With the recent reduction in SNAP benefits, many families in our own Lilburn community are feeling an extra layer of stress during a time that’s already emotionally and financially demanding. This nonprofit 501(c)3 pulls from overcrowded high kill shelters all over Georgia, saves homeless pets from the streets and finds forever homes for adoptable animals. In addition, donations are distributed to food pantries in Atlanta who support low income families feed their families and their fur babies. Donations are needed now more than ever! Dear Friends of Salon Nine Seven,

Can you believe we’re already wrapping up the first month of the school year? By now, we hope everyone has found their rhythm with the new traffic patterns, after-school activities, and maybe even survived a few “forgot-my-lunchbox” mornings. For those of you sending kids off to college, we hope they’re settling in (and maybe even remembering to call home once in a while!).

We also know that lately the weight of the world feels a little heavier. At times like these, kindness matters more than ever. Let’s remember to check in on our friends and family, offer extra patience to those with different perspectives, and continue to lift each other up. And as small businesses feel the squeeze of rising costs, we encourage you to keep supporting local whenever possible—it truly makes a difference.

Speaking of support, we want to take a moment to celebrate someone very dear to us. Our wonderful receptionist and salon manager, Lily, has accepted an amazing opportunity with Royal Flush Plumbing (who, as I shared in the last newsletter, is another business that cares deeply about community outreach). Lily has been so much more than “just” an assistant—she’s been the glue, the cheerleader, the event planner, and the heart behind so many of our successes. Her warmth, generosity, and tireless energy helped us not only serve our guests but also raise thousands of dollars for causes close to our hearts.

While we always knew Lily’s time with us was a stepping stone toward her next big adventure, saying goodbye is bittersweet. Her daily presence will be deeply missed, but we couldn’t be prouder to see her thrive in this new chapter. The good news? She’s still part of the Salon Nine Seven family and you’ll see her at our art shows and community events. (So don’t worry—we’re not letting her get away that easily!). In fact, one of the recent events she helped us organize was our Fashionista Summer Camp. Aren't these stylish kids the cutest??? It was amazing seeing their creativity come to life in the outfits they designed and we are beyond proud of their confidence to walk the runway to show their work. We intend to do it again next year, but earlier in the summer. Be on the look out for registration early in 2026!

City of Lilburn Happenings

Special Planning Commission Hearing Thursday August 28th 7:30pm.
Lilburn City Hall 340 Main Street
This meeting is to vote on the proposed Rezoning Application RZ‑2025‑01, which seeks to rezone approximately 9.44 acres at 4541 & 4535 Arcado Rd. (and adjacent parcels) from R‑1 Low Density Residential to MU Mixed Use for the construction of 104 residential units and 24,000+ square feet of commercial space.

By law, two public meetings are required before a rezoning decision is made. Applications are first reviewed by Planning Commission and then presented to City Council. That means residents have multiple opportunities to share their thoughts.

SPLOST: Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax
Gwinnett voters have approved a series of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax programs, known as SPLOST, since the mid-1980s. This one percent sales tax has paid for County and city facilities, acres of green space, parks and recreation facilities, new roads and improvements, police and fire stations, and libraries around the county. Your pennies are working to keep Gwinnett a great place to live, work, and play!

As the 11th largest school district in the United States, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) manages a large capital plan, relying on funds from E-SPLOST, G.O. Bonds, and other revenue sources to ensure that our district remains a system of world-class schools.

Rock the Park- September 13th 7:00-9:30 pm Get ready to rock! Join us for Rock the Park, Lilburn’s semi-annual free summer concert series that both kicks off and closes out the summer in Lilburn City Park. The evening kicks off with Food Trucks, Sweet treats, and adult beverages for purchase, followed by live music at the bandshell. Enjoy performances by local favorites and high-energy tribute bands that will have you dancing the night away. Bring your chairs, blankets, and friends for a night of great music and good vibes under the stars!

Lilburn Daze- October 11 9am-5pm. Lilburn Daze, a cherished fall tradition that takes place on the 2nd Saturday in October, is hosted by the Lilburn Women's Club and Co-Sponsored by the City of Lilburn. This family-friendly festival features aisles of handmade goods, loads of food options, kids activities and live entertainment all in the heart of Lilburn City Park. Our owner Nicky Nocera is the chair of the Middle Georgia American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk. This event takes place on Sunday September 14th at Rozar Park in Perry, GA (where Nicky grew up).
