Scars anywhere, not just abdominal, can cause poor mobility, posture changes, tissue restriction, poor muscle activation and more!

Why do we scar?⁣
⁣
Scarring actually serves an important purpose in our body. It is our body’s response to injury or surgery.

After injury or surgery, our tissue continues to remodel and repair. Fibrinogen and other markers then continues to lay tissue down- some people scar worse than others.

It becomes problematic when we don’t address it, because tissue does not lay down perfectly, but it served the purpose of healing that area.⁣

We also have a fascial layer in our body that lays on top of organs, then over muscle tissue, and sits near the skin.

Those layers can fuse together and cause “adhesions” of scar tissue.⁣
⁣
C-section or abdominal surgery, deep tissue removal, endometriosis, chronic inflammation, and injury can all cause scar tissue. ⁣

Scar tissue mobility can:⁣
🌿 decrease soft tissue adhesions⁣
🌿 improve overall body mobility⁣
🌿 improve (downregulate) sympathetic function, which can improve stress, urinary and bowel function⁣
🌿 decrease scar sensitivity and pain⁣

After surgery, start around 2-3 weeks or when your incision is closed.
