BREAKING: A U.S. District Judge has declined to block President Donald Trump’s executive order tightening rules on mail-in voting — handing Democrats a significant legal setback.

In a ruling issued Thursday, Judge Carl Nichols rejected Democratic efforts for a preliminary injunction against the March 31 Executive Order titled “Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections.”

Key Elements of the Executive Order:
• Directs the Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration to compile state-by-state lists of confirmed U.S. citizens eligible to vote.
• Instructs the U.S. Postal Service to establish stricter rules for handling mail-in and absentee ballots, including pre-approved voter lists and enhanced tracking.
• Aims to strengthen citizenship verification and prevent non-citizen voting in federal elections.

Democratic lawyers, including those representing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other plaintiffs, argued the order could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters and infringes on states’ constitutional authority to regulate elections. The judge ruled that the challenge was premature, as the government has not yet produced the citizenship lists or fully implemented new postal rules.
