Cystic acne can be extremely painful, sometimes it’s difficult to sleep on the side where the breakout is because of the pain.

However, having acne is NOT dirty. It’s not linked to poor hygiene and this is something that isn’t spoken about enough.

If you have acne, scars, hyperpigmentation and large pores, this is all normal. Do not let social media trick you into thinking it isn’t 💕

Ditch the tanning beds and sunbathing for hours without sun production!

Too much sun at a young age can cause premature aging and cell damage!

However, this just means we need to protect the skin when we can. A little bit of sun a day is actually OK according to the FDA and Skin Cancer Foundation!

Everything in moderation is key- especially here in Michigan where most of us are deficient in vitamin D!

The FDA actually recommends 10-15 minutes of sun a day, which is usually equal to 1,000 IUs of vitamin D. Studies show many autoimmune disorders are possibly connected to low vitamin D levels, so by no means am I saying to HIDE from the sun forever! Just keep moderation in mind, especially when dealing with pigmentation issues or using actives like Retinol! 😎

It’s best to receive your 10-15 minutes of sunlight in the morning, especially for women as it helps to regulate hormones and our circadian rhythm. This can be drinking your coffee/tea outside, or going for a short walk!

So if you plan on being outside for a few hours, apply your spf & wear a sun hat. If your just going to be out for a few minutes in the morning, don’t stress about it! 💓
