Chaz Salon

Chaz had officially downsized to our new suite over at Sola Salon Studios.
Tammy and I couldn’t be happier!
Sometimes the scariest thing is the absolute BEST thing to do. ♥️

🚨Long post alert 🚨
Bittersweet life transition.
I’ve owned Chaz Salon for over 20 years.
Started working there as a receptionist at the age of 14.
Graduated Cosmetology school at the same time as I graduated high school over 30 years ago.
I’ve worked as a stylist at Chaz since the winter of 1994.

Bought the salon from my mom at the age of 27.

Bought the commercial property and moved from our location in Boulder to Longmont the summer of 2013.

It has been a ride.

The good, the bad, the ups, the downs.
Through a recession, pregnancy/childbirth, through my divorce, through my remarriage, through Covid and everything in between.

The salon has been a massive part of my life.
Owning it is also absolutely exhausting.
Everything that goes wrong falls on me as the business owner.
The stress of the hot water heater going out multiple times, before I ended up having to completely replace it, the dryer breaking two weeks before Christmas last year, leaks, electrical issues, almost burning out the air conditioning unit, cleaning on Sundays since Covid, etc..
I realize, owning it isn’t fun for me anymore.
If you know me, you know that having fun is a huge priority in my life.

Doing hair and connecting with my clients is my favorite part and still so much fun.
I love what I do for a living.
That’s not changing.
That part is only going to get better.

I may be closing a small chapter, but Chaz Salon will still be around.
We are shifting over to a double studio at Sola Salons and Tammy and I will be sharing a lovely space to welcome our clients.
The other stylists decided to go elsewhere and focus on what was best for them.

My ego took a shot for a hot second and I had to sit with that and work through all the feelings and emotions that came up.

I’ve worked with dozens of amazing stylists over the last 30 years that have come and gone.
My only wish for any of them is that they are happy.

I’m really looking forward to downsizing my space and having time and energy for the other passions (besides hair), that I have in my life with my health and wellness coaching, co-leading women’s retreats and diving deeper into a holistic health and naturopathy practitioner certification programs.

I’ve always had a deep down goal of owning Chaz Salon, longer than both the founder himself (Chaz), as well as my mom. They each had 10 years as owner.
I reached that goal earlier this year! 🙌🏼

Transitions usually come with a little pain and feeling like you want to cry 😭 and/or puke 🤮 every 5 mins.
I’m taking that all in stride and have a deep knowing and longing that I am on the right path.

Cheers to new beginnings and stepping off the ledge with an unwavering knowledge that I am exactly where I need to be and I am always taken care of.
