One more that I worked for last year.
It’s not exactly a “Korean film,” although the director and lead actor are Korean. The story itself isn’t about Korean people. Anyway I love the concept, which is why I wanted to work on it.
The film follows a delivery driver navigating a burning, end-of-the-world city as he tries to visit his ailing father before it’s too late. Julian Park, who wrote and directed the film, is incredibly sharp and feels like a truly promising new filmmaker.
Even though there was only one actor, the shoot was fun because of some special effects makeup. And the one and only actor Jonnie Park, also known as Dumbfoundead (), was such a fascinating performer to work with. I’ve worked with many actors, but he’s one of the easiest and most considerate collaborators I’ve ever met. I don’t know his full background, but he’s incredibly active as a rapper, actor, and writer. He’s also one of the writers for Beef Season 2, and his book SPIT is about to be released.
What made him stand out to me even more was his love for the Korean-American community and Koreatown. His posts about K-Town on social media are genuinely touching.
Another thing that made this project special was the team itself—close friends working together as the producer , production designer , and the hair & makeup department . It made the entire experience even more meaningful.

Last year, I had the opportunity to work on a short film called “Magpie.” Directed by Andrew Oh .andrewoh
The project featured one of Korea’s most beloved veteran actresses, Yong-nyeo Sunwoo, along with her real-life daughter, Yeon-jae Choi, who was also a well-known singer in the past. They played a mother-daughter duo on screen, which made the story even more meaningful. Ms. Sunwoo’s Youtube is very popular among Koreans.

We were also joined by Kayla Lee (), a rising actress and a promising artist who has released several music projects.

“Magpie” is a beautiful yet heartbreaking film that touches on the issue of Asian hate — a story that left a deep emotional impact on all of us involved
