Vietnam cafés are in a whole other level.

Thailand has some of the most beautiful cafés… but I didn’t expect to have this in my backyard.

Every time you hear about things to do in Thailand, visiting an elephant sanctuary is always at the top of the list. I’ve done that before, but now that I’m a little older, I’m not really interested in bathing elephants in a river or anything that feels invasive… and I definitely don’t support riding them. If I see you riding one, I’m giving you side eye immediately.

This felt different.

Instead of interacting with them, you just sit, enjoy your coffee, and watch them exist in their own space… unbothered. And honestly, this is the kind of experience I’d recommend now.

Not gonna lie, I thought overwater bungalows were always actually over the ocean… but this felt more like an enlarged pond or swimming pool. You can’t really tell from the video, so if you’re just going for content, you can definitely make it look amazing. But I don’t know… I was expecting to be in my villa and see a shark swim underneath my house. Maybe I’m just being dramatic.

Fiji is made up of several islands, and most resorts own the island they’re on, so it can feel a little boring if you don’t get out on the water. This specific resort was on the main island, which didn’t really have the prettiest beaches, so the man-made lagoon kind of made sense. Most of those immaculate waters you see in Fiji are actually off the coast of the main island, which we did explore on a few excursions… but it’s definitely one of those Instagram vs. reality moments.

One thing about me… I’m going to get the shot!
One of my favorite hobbies is photography and this is how I ended up almost losing in my life, trying to get the perfect shot.

This was supposed to be a simple side quest.
Drive up the highest peak on the island, get a crazy drone shot, and go about my day.

The view? Unreal.
The ride up? Already questionable.

But it wasn’t until the way down…
that I realized I might’ve just put myself in a situation I couldn’t get out of.

I was going slow.
I was being careful.
And somehow… that still wasn’t enough.

One wrong move and everything changed.

I’m not gonna lie…
this could’ve ended very differently.

Crazy part is, there are actual tour companies that will take you up there safely… for free.
Meanwhile me? risking my life for a shot 😭
