For those of you that haven’t met her, Christina has been a massage therapist for over 13 years and specializes in therapeutic, deep tissue sports massage. She has spent her career working in chiropractic and sports medicine clinics, treating people of all ages, cultures and physical abilities.

Holding on to my great grandmother’s hand and through her the generations of incredibly strong and stubborn women that have come before me.

A couple months ago, when I took this picture, she told my mom and I that she thought she would make it to 107. She said it nonchalantly, as though it had already happened, like she was as sure of it as she was that Tuesday follows Monday.

Sure some good genes are involved, but guaranteed that sheer strength of will and determination is one of the things that has kept that tired heart beating.

Today when I called her, she told me she had waited a long time for this birthday. I agreed, one hundred and seven years in fact.
