On Giving Tuesday, Dear Family, Friends and Music Lovers,
I'm excited to share about the Lorelei Shellist Music Scholarship, established in 2007 in loving memory of my parents, Rita and Bernie Shellist—professional, talented, and devoted musicians from the Big Band Era—and my beloved Steve Clark, the legendary lead songwriter and lead guitarist for Def Leppard.
For the past 18 years, this scholarship has been honoring their legacy by supporting aspiring musicians who share their dedication and talent. I've been deeply touched by the many thank you notes from previous winners, whose lives have been transformed through this opportunity. My parents and Steve Clark studied music passionately, mastered reading sheet music, and excelled in their professions, bringing joy and magic to countless lives, including my own. Through their artistry, they filled the world with unforgettable melodies and rhythms that continue to inspire us all.

In our #MeetTheModels series, we'll highlight some of the special guests you'll see strutting their stuff on stage during the Edith Head Fashion Experience on November 15. First up is the lovely @loreleishellist who brings new meaning to the definition of "super model." Lorelei is an integral member of the newly-formed OMAM Guild and is serving as chair of its Fashion Committee. To say this show wouldn't happen without her expertise is an understatement! In her memoir, Lorelei writes boldly and candidly about on how she went from a runaway teen to a world-class international model. Her perseverance, determination, survival skills, and wit enabled her to serve as a graceful and spirited muse for top designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Yves St. Laurent, Christian LaCroix, Bob Mackie, Geoffrey Beene, and Giorgio Armani. Her free time was spent traveling with fiancé Steve Clark from Def Leppard during his world-wide Hysteria tour. Lorelei designed his stage wear and his entire rock star “look” for MTV and publicity photos. She has an unparalleled eye for fashion, style, and the secrets and techniques for bringing forward the true beauty hidden in each woman. Beyond the runway, Lorelei has appeared internationally in films, TV, commercials, and print, and has gone on the road as a singer/songwriter. She launched The Dream Dress® from her brand label Runway RunAway Collection® in 2017. Lorelei generously donated a copy of “Runway Runaway: A Backstage Pass to Fashion, Romance & Rock ‘n Roll” autographed by @defleppard lead guitarist Phil Collen, and the signature Dream Dress® for our silent auction. I thoroughly enjoyed the new documentary on Bob Mackie. However, it only focused on his costume career and not his “ready to wear” a line of which I was a part of. Forever grateful because it was an exciting time.
And I’m happy I got to spend seven years working with the man. A great designer, a kind heart and a lovely guy.
