How much longer am I going to lift these cuties up!!!! We will find out this Sunday, right, ? I cannot believe we took these almost half a year ago! I’ve been in such an antisocial mode, and going through my old photos has my soul lifting. The way the kids have grown. How I’ve grown. I had a moment in my sleeping life where a divine dream visitor asked if I’d like to know the meaning of life. I said, “yes please.” The answer? To grow. Looks like we’re doing alright. And every day we open our minds, our hearts, we’re doing exactly as we’re meant to during this waking Earthly life. Grow.

It began to spread first in Turkey as millions of us here grieve the deaths of several women, this week alone, who have garnered a lot of media attention as victims of Femicide.
As the Turkish government looks to back out of the Istanbul Convention, which is made to protect the high number of domestic abuse cases against women, people are angry & banded together to show solidarity against this action.
Your beautiful black & white photo is yes, meant to empower other women as your sister, but because so many men disregard & dispose us of our worth.
I urge you to google Femicide and read the horrific accounts some women have faced. Violence against women anywhere is a tragedy!

Here’s a snap from our 11 mile walk to celebrate 11 years since we said, “I do.” I love you with all my being, ! I am grieving. I’ve never felt this way before.
Once, possibly in a moment of pain years ago, but this is different.

She was my love. My friend. My confidant. My grandmother. Grand. Mother. Great. At mothering. She tickeled my back for hours. Taught me the importance of Danish cuisine, how catering to my man would help my relationship 🙄, and how giving the benefit of the doubt would win battles... I wrote this for you, Ann, in your last days on this earth...

My grandmother is passing

Her hands outstretched waiting for something or someone

Her smiles fades and comes as quickly as her shoulders rise and fall.

Her hands. This woman’s hands are the most beautiful hands I’ve ever seen. They have made babies, buried husbands, and seen so many knitting needles.

The cats in the neighborhood flock to her doorstep because she can’t turn them away without a full tummy. Her heart is full. Her heart has filled my heart full.

We laugh with one another in a conspiring way that only she and I can. My bosom pal. My kindred spirit. We’ve discussed if we were born the same year we would have been the very best of friends. Talking about nothing, spraying our favorite perfumes, looking for hours at the sky in tall grass and flowers.

Her humor can be best described as “wicked.” She can turn on a dime, but say something that leaves you going, wait what!? She discusses “Ms. Manners” at great length, and will quiz you on place settings until the day is done.

We had tea parties, walnut pickings (even though I’m allergic), hours of back tickles, and bird watching, Tupperware matching or guessing more like it, and dress and shoe try ons.

Her energy is filling.

And now she is gone. Vacancy where it once felt filled. So many stories I’d like to know. So many feelings I’d like to understand of hers.

My heart aches like it has a terrible heart burn of pain. My eyes are swollen and cannot shut without searing. I think of what she’d want. To love on. To get going. To make a pot of the world’s weakest coffee and enjoy it fully while whistling to the birds outside.

I miss you. I love you, my Danish queen.
