MOON + LUX

It’s Monday and we’re back like we never left because really we didn’t.
The past few months have been a whirlwind to say the least. While we’ve been working behind the scenes we’ve haven’t lost sight of our ethos: 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝐿𝒪𝒱𝐸 = 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝒞𝒜𝑅𝐸
If anything we’ve been hyper-focused on it more than ever before, deep diving into what it really means for us personally. And sometimes 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝒞𝒜𝑅𝐸 involves unplugging from social media and focusing on the present moment, on 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 life.
As most of you know MOON + LUX is a one woman show and it takes a lot of perseverance, patience and energy to keep this small, totally independent business running.
Therefore, amidst the grind an increase of grace was necessary in this current stage of my 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝒞𝒜𝑅𝐸.
Cause at the end of the day we’re all just doing the best we can and it’s important to remind ourselves of that fact.

I just got back from a recharging week full of 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝒞𝒜𝑅𝐸 in the desert and as MOON + LUX enters this new chapter I want to reiterate our ethos, continue encouraging 𝘺𝘰𝘶 to practice 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝐿𝒪𝒱𝐸 through 𝒮𝐸𝐿𝐹-𝒞𝒜𝑅𝐸 and remind you to give yourself the gift of grace amidst 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 grind ✨

Hey guys, MíChele here!

Looking at this picture makes me emotional. At a glance it just looks like a simple fragmented body photograph, right? Most likely a woman, a sliver of her jawline, multiple piercings in her ear, a few strands of hair, all held up by a slender neck and an exposed and prominent collarbone sticking out from under her seemingly tanned skin. 

And that’s when I start to tear up; her collarbone.

I fractured my left collarbone about a month ago, an event that has altered just about every single part of my life since. I felt compelled to share my experience and give you all some insight on my healing journey.

For starters, I’ve been giving myself and my body lots of grace, Self-Love, Self-Care and have been using my MOON Oil and LUX Oil constantly for aromatherapy - which I must say has and always will be a pivotal part in my Self-Care ritual and mental healthcare.

As some of you may know, I’ve been a certified yoga instructor for 8 years and have been a student of yoga for 15. Having my practice at a standstill has affected not only my mental but also spiritual health in ways I could have imagined but would never have dared. 

I’ve always been strong physically and have been so incredibly grateful for my good health, therefore, the past month has been a struggle to say the least. Only now, in week 4 of the healing process, am I no longer experiencing the excruciating, agonizing pain I was prior.

After suffering the injury, reviewing my X-rays with a radiologist and being debriefed on my healing and rehabilitation plan I went home, and stayed home. I turned down multiple invitations and didn’t see some of my core group of friends for weeks. I felt myself slipping into a depression. Although I knew these feelings were inevitable, due to not only the pain I was enduring, but also the trauma of the experience in its entirety, I decided I would not wallow and I would give my SELF, my mind and my body grace through this process. I knew I had to prioritize and even redefine SELF-CARE for me during this journey.
