It’s 2016, I’ve been behind the chair for 5 years and fully booked as a hair colorist. I loved it so much! I’d swatch formulas for fun on my day off and obsessed over learning “color in parts”.. I somehow found myself on a color development team for a boutique color line based out of Chula Vista (hi Javier 👋🏼)i got to spend quite a bit of time testing hair colors, sitting in on product development meetings while also learning the basics on education presentation/format.

…This is also right around the time that i started to develop sensitivities to hair color (wear gloves folks) and this is actually the year I went back to school to potentially change my career..that is until i found a place as a haircutting specialist!

Another 2016 memory that’s been unlocked was attending a hands on class after the Hairbrained teach-in at Naha…that was actually my first razor cutting experience.

I also remember getting lost in the convention center just to stumble upon Charlie price styling for a HBlive . Thank you for always being so welcoming Kelly ❤️

I also can’t get into to too much of 2016 because Aiden was so itty bitty and it makes me emotional lol!
Crazy to see just how much has changed and to be able to reflect on how good God has been to us(it’s been crazy fr tho!)

If you’re a hairdresser and still reading and maybe feeling a bit of l*l or sorta stuck right now. Don’t be afraid to try something new, even if you feel you might look silly(you probably will)try to find the excitement in the new..you’re not a tree! You can always change things up and move Xo.

Starting 2026 with motivation and gratitude for the upcoming year.
This second round of motherhood has me digging deeper and moving with so much more intention.

Some of the haircuts I’ve done recently.
Mostly razor cut, mostly hand styled, always at liberty to choose what works best.
A thought that consistently comes to mind throughout the haircutting process is “how will this look after you wake up in the morning” ..usually done while pushing your hair around and watching to see where your hair falls naturally…
.because most times bed head will always reveal your natural fall and really can be so perfectly imperfect in just the right amount..
