How many of you squeeze your nose, and this “white stuff” comes out, 🙋🏾♀️ and have you actually smelled it 🤢?! This oily substance is called Sebum. Sebum is a light yellow viscous fluid, composed of triglycerides, free fatty acids, and wax . Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands and contributes to moisture balance in the Stratus Corneum ( outermost layer of epidermis).
We ALL produce it on a daily. It’s natural to produce, but creating a balance to producing it is key 🔑. Sebum has no smell, but its bacterial breakdown can produce a bad smell. So it is important to rid of this oil from your skin as much as you can when properly cleansing your face.
