When Bayer took glyphosate out of the American home landscaping version of Roundup in order to slow down cancer lawsuits, they replaced it with drastically more toxic chemicals. Several are so toxic that they are banned in the EU. Overall, according to a study from @friends_earth the new formulas are 45x more toxic than the original glyphosate versions. The EPA didn’t require any new alerts or warnings about the extreme increase in risk from exposure, so now people are just out there spraying thinking everything is perfectly safe. We had enough of a problem with glyphosate, this is much worse. This situation is why when we talk about getting pesticides out of farming, we need to consider each move carefully. Foreign chemical companies are ready to substitute with no regard to our health, and complete freedom from real EPA regulation.
