Its time to update everyone again on
The Barber Shop & Co.
Hello everyone, Frank here. I apologize for the length of this post. There is a lot of information to cover.
We have been open for just about 1 year now, following our 2 month government mandated shutdown in the spring of 2020. Things are going pretty good. Not exactly like they used to be, but pretty good. We appreciate your continued support. Thank you!
First, let me start by saying The Barber Shop & Co. will continue to provide a safe environment for our customers and staff.
That will remain our #1 priority.
We are getting a lot of questions about mask requirements, CDC recommendations, Executive Orders and the appointment system
as they relate to our shop. I will attempt to answer most of these question below.
Here are some of the questions and comments we are hearing at the shop.
The CDC says I don’t need a mask.
The CDC makes recommendations. The CDC does not run our shop and the CDC does not issue (or revoke) the license that allows our shop to stay open. We are following the rules set forward by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
What rules are you following?
We are complying with the Virginia Governor’s
Executive Orders 72 (Seventh Amended) & 79
as they relate to Covid-19 restrictions. A combined 23 pages of repetitive legal speak. And yes, I did read it.
When can I stop wearing a mask?
The rules requiring social distancing and masks
as they relate to the Personal Services Industry
are being relaxed on May 28, 2021.
In short, masks will be optional in the shop
starting May 28, 2021.
What if I want to wear a mask?
If you would like to wear a mask, that is your personal decision. Everyone will be permitted to make a personal decision about mask wearing for themselves. They will not, however, be permitted to judge others or suggest, demand, advise, propose or advocate that others must comply with said decision.
Do I need to make an appointment?
The short answer is “no”. We will happily accept walk-ins.
Please understand that there may be increased wait times.
Can I still make an appointment?
Yes, appointments are preferred. Appointments will decrease your wait time. You can make an appointment by calling 703.361.6000 or texting 571.361.2418 include your name, preferred date, time & barber.
Most of you know how this works by now.
Will things ever get back to normal?
Maybe. A lot of things have changed over the last year and a half. Some good, some not so good. We will continue to make adjustments as situations present themselves.
If you have any other questions or comments, post them in the comments section below or contact me directly.
Thank you for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Just in case there are any questions about the Virginia Executive Order dated effective May 15, 2021. I have highlighted the section that applies to barber shops. In summary, masks are still required.
