The geriatric horses love the back support that muscle tape provides 🩷🖤

Maverick here, gave a sigh of relief after the application. This was his most tender spot I found which is why I chose to tape it. The tape is an extension of my hands that works long after I have left the barn.

Whose Responsibility is it for your Horse’s Posture?

“Your horse’s support team matters. Vets, bodyworkers, trainers, hoof care providers, saddle fitters and other professionals all have important roles. But there is one part of the picture that cannot be outsourced; the owners daily observations, choices, and postural work. Owner discernment also selects and reviews information that will will dictate horse management and choose the members of the broader team.
This episode is not aim to tell you to do better- but to bring awareness to how valuable you are to your horse. Your horse can only communicate through their behaviour, posture and movement and your ability to interpret their movement and behaviour is paramount.”

In this episode, we talk about:
* Why your role as the horse owner is irreplaceable. No one can play your role in your horse's care.
* Personal stories about our own horses when the path forward has not been clear
* How to advocate for your horse with the professionals around you
* Why bodywork is powerful and creates a postural opportunity, but regular postural influence maintains change
* What exercises, warm-ups and observations are yours to take responsibility for
* How taking responsibility includes self education and skill development
* Why curiosity matters more than judgement when reading your horse’s behaviour

Thank you to Integrated Veterinary Therapeutics for sharing knowledge on such an important topic!

I rode my first draft last weekend! 🖤
This black beauty is Julie (Jules)🐴
Her walk felt like slow motion!

She helps pull the carriages for Prince Carriage Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Look for them around the holidays in town or contact the company if you have a special event or request.

My friend was gracious enough to let me drive horses, ride horses and crash her birthday weekend.
It was great! 🩷🖤

What’s been a highlight of your summer so far?
Bonus if it includes horses 😂

Sarcoid Before & After.
I’m long overdue in posting this.
My horse, Glenda, had three sarcoids on her body. One here at the jawline, one huge one in her right arm pit and one on her left inside groin.
This is the only before picture I took, last May.
I took her into the vet for the one in her armpit because it was so big beneath the skin, and hard. The top of it was bubbly. It was beginning to restrict movement and I was concerned.

The one here at her jaw actually looked much worse and at this point I was already treating it so it was getting better. In that moment, I realized maybe I should take a picture.

I didn’t take any of the others because I wasn’t sure that what I was doing would work, but it did. I know the vet took photos of the one of her arm pit so I am going to try to get my hands on those. I was told to leave them all alone and note any changes, that treatments to help could get expensive should I choose that later on.

Today, I’m happy to report that all three are completely gone with what I did at home.

This is not the first time I have dealt with sarcoids, though these ones with Glenda were persistent. I’ve shared before and afters of my other horse, Sis who came to me with them. Her’s have been gone for years and went away with gut and immune system healing. I have client horses who have done the same with bloody sarcoids in the ears.
You can see those photos on my website reviews and testimonials and probably by searching previous posts here.

There are different types of sarcoids, but it all boils down to supporting the body from the inside out for healing and helping topically for support along the way.

I’m glad I didn’t give up on these because once I was faithful on the daily to tackle them, maybe…. three - four months at the most? And they were gone.
