Our partial highlight is for the guests who wants a refresh- not a full overhaul. Just the right amount of brightness and dimension to bring your color back to life.

Sun- kissed ribbons and a soft grow-out create hair that looks expensive without trying too hard.

See that? Thats the makings of a first session balayage. My guests had been getting teasy- foil highlights and well... I just got tired of teasing. Sometimes you just need to mix it up. She's got beautiful hair and today it just made sense.
I first painted her roots with Wella Color touch demi-permanent. While the color sat, I free-hand painted 12 balayage panels (6 each side) with Wella clay and 30 volume with Formula 18 additive.
Glazed with 10N and 9V Shades and BAM!
I love trying new things and especially with my cool clients. ā¤ļø you Whitney. Enjoy!

Yesterday I posted a free-hand balayage teaser to my story. As promised, I wanted to follow-up with an after pic.
A little free- hand painting on Danielle to break up her all over color with dimension. Yesterday's session was subtle but oh-so- beautiful! If you're a darker haired girl and looking for balayage panels, you gotta set through the sessions to remove warm tones and protect the integrity of the hair. She's already booked for session two, lighter and brighter for this one. šŸ’•

As promised, how about a follow-up to my mad scientist teaser yesterday. A little free- hand painting on Danielle to break up her base color and add in some brightness. Yesterday's session was subtle but beautiful. If you're a darker haired girl and looking for blonde balayage panels, you gotta set through the sessions to lift out the warm tones in the hair. She's already booked for session two. šŸ’•

How about a little before and after? This client has the most ah-mazing hair. So amazing that I was able to take her from the rich red (pic 2) to a beautiful butterscotch blonde in one session. Controlled lifting to protect the integrity of the hair required longer processing time but the results were worth it.

Stay Salty!

This one's for all my ponytail, top-knot and claw clip girls. Want to know one of my favorite pro moves during a partial highlight?

A hairline foil.

Foiling the darker hairline around the face and nape elevates the look partial and makes it feel more cohesive.

Why? Because when she pulls her hair up, there’s no heavy shadow or dark rim showing. Everything blends seamlessly.

It’s those tiny placement details that make a partial feel like a full transformation… and keep it looking effortless all summer long.

Stay Salty!

Who doesn't like a pop of brightness without the upkeep? This one is for my long-haired girls who want brightness without living in the salon chair. Balayage grows out seamlessly. Soft, hand-painted ribbons of color create natural dimension without the harsh lines that foiling can create. Free-hand painting with balayage clay and 20 volume.

Stay Salty!

Thought it would be fun to share a little color transition. I had previously taken my guests hair to this beautiful buttery blonde (swipe to last pic). The color was amazing, but it required maintenance. Even more important, my guests is rocking the most amazing brown eyes and ivory skin, which was way too close to her hair color. šŸ¤”

I know... I know...

Don't get me wrong, she looks beautiful as a blonde, but it was just time to switch things up and add some richness to her color palette. I did my pinwheel foiling technique with deep diagonal back slicing and pivoted around the head.
I've been experimenting (can I say that? Yep.) with Paul Mitchell's Color XG and loving the results, so this was my color choice.

20g of 6AA
10g of 6N
30g of 10 volume

The AA was to keep it cool and the N was to keep it balanced- never met a blonde that appreciated muddy lowlites and today was no different. I always add the N for tonal balance and safety 😬
We ā¤ļø'd the results. Pic 1 & 2 are from today. Rich chocolate brown base with ribbons of color throughout. The science geek in me would like to share that PM color has cottonseed oil and rice protein. Both rich in linoleic acid and omega-3's to strengthen the hair, tame frizz and add shine. This was the perfect color choice for my long hair beauty.

From a vision to a reality! For a few months now, I've been working behind the scenes building a salon that would one day have employees. It feels great to share this pic knowing that I'm making steps forward. Salt Beauty Lounge is growing and I've officially opened a third station. Which means…I'm almost ready for my first team member! I've been in prayer for this stylist and I know they exist. They value connection, education, personal growth and excellent customer service. And most importantly.... they ā¤ļø working with two quirky women with big hearts and a love for 80's music. šŸŽµ
