I’ve got a funny story to share with you guys.
When I was in 3rd grade my teacher had us draw a portrait of ourselves of what we wanted to do for a career when we were older. I had told the girl sitting next to be I wanted to draw myself as a hairstylist. She told me that was dumb 😂😅 I got so embarrassed so I copied her and drew myself as a dentist. 🤦🏼‍♀️ which is actually quite funny because if you know me you know how much I hate the dentist 😂

My mom still has this drawing somewhere in our garage one day I’ll have to frame it and hang it in the salon 😂

Hair color is a journey honey , not a destination 📍👏🏻

This is a great example of that!
My sweet client Laura came to me a little over a year ago with shoulder length hair ,tons of breakage , orange, yellow and very dark splotchy hair. (Swipe for her before)

The first time I did her color I told her I was nervous lightening out what she had because it was in such poor condition. That appointment I was surprised we got to where we did!

Now we are here! Her hair is in such good condition and is ready to take the next steps in working out the rest of the brassy tones on her ends.

We have been patient to let her hair get to a better place and work on blending her color to make it something she could live with until it was healthy enough to brighten it up.

She has kept up on her trims , kept the heat low and has been using all the products I recommended.

Sometimes as your stylist we have to say no, not yet. For good reason! It’s not that i don’t want to give you your dream hair but healthy hair is my #1 priority at the end of the day!

I’m so excited for our next appointment 💕

At this point I’m just vicariously living through all of my clients hair 😅

I have always wanted to have blonde hair but being a natural red head has always just been better for my skin tone .

Your skin tone and eye color are something to keep in mind when choosing what tone would be best suited for your hair

There’s nothing worse than feeling washed out because your color isn’t the right tone 🙏🏻

Grey blending - balayage

Yes I said greys 👀 girl where?!

Exactly.

I love when my clients don’t care about their greys! we dont worry about covering them we just work with them and make them a little less noticeable 😉

In this case I added super subtle baby lights into her base to mimic how her hair grows in naturally. Added a super soft root to give her that effortless lives in color 👏🏻

From bold money piece back to baby money piece 💕

Let me take you through how this transformation went down.
Alyssa originally wanted to go from her bold color blocked face frame to a soft money piece and balayage all over. Prior to doing her bold face frame she had a preexisting balayage.
When she came in today i could see her old balayage was starting to show through all of the dark we had put over her ends last time.

Since she liked the color her hair had faded to We decided that for the sake of her hairs health we would leave her ends alone to keep fading and start to lighten them in about 6 months.

I started with sectioning out how thick she wanted to keep her money piece.
Then went through and highlighted that while then taking the rest of the blonde and adding some lowlights in that matched the same color her ends had faded to.

Then lastly smudge rooting and toning the front ✨

What May look like a super simple change actually has a lot that goes into it from consult to end result 👏🏻
