Beware of pre-workout drinks. While pre-workout supplements can give you that "superhero" feeling in the gym, they aren't exactly health tonics. They are highly concentrated cocktails of stimulants and synthetic ingredients that can put significant stress on your system.
Kidney Load: High levels of creatine and artificial dyes require your kidneys to work overtime to filter them out. If you aren't drinking enough water, this can lead to dehydration or, in extreme cases, kidney stones. Some lower-quality powders have tested positive for trace amounts of lead or arsenic.
Ingredients like sucralose can alter your gut microbiome, potentially leading to inflammation. High doses can cause arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).
Some of the stimulants constrict blood vessels, spiking your blood pressure. When you combine this with the natural blood pressure spike from heavy lifting, it puts immense pressure on your arteries. The "Crash": Over-relying on stimulants can lead to adrenal insufficiency. Your body stops producing natural energy because it’s waiting for the chemical kick-start. Got questions 🤔. Let's talk.
