Kyla Willcox, from Perth, Australia, says a callus under her big toe was filed hard with a pumice stone. Two days later her toe hurt, she was shaking and sweating, and she felt unbelievably sick. Doctors told her it was the start of sepsis. They caught it in time and saved her toe.

She says she'd assumed every tool was sterilized, and she was later told otherwise. Her doctors believe the pedicure caused the infection.
