Six weeks later ✨

Blonding looks a little different at Little Citrine Salon. ✨

After a full foilage, I brought her over to the head spa for the finishing touches—freehand painting the remaining pieces while she relaxed comfortably on the bed.

I’m calling this part Bed Balayage. 🤍

With her hair draped over the edge, I can see exactly where I want to add those final hand-painted ribbons of brightness—and she gets to lie back instead of sitting upright through another step of her color service.

We finished with a mini conditioning treatment before toning and revealing her dimensional blonde.

This topper started out VERY blonde…and very baby chick yellow. 🐥😂

My client has a natural Level 4 root with a beautiful icy, ashy Level 9 blonde—so simply putting this topper on her head was never going to give us a believable blend.

I custom colored it with a deep shadow root and cooler blonde tones to create a dimensional, balayage-inspired result that would melt into her natural hair.

And that final blend. 🤍

That’s one of my favorite parts of creating integrated hair toppers: the topper shouldn’t look like a separate piece of hair.

The color, root depth and dimension all have to make sense with the person wearing it.

A very real 1 AM integrated hair topper update. 😂 sorry little rambling.

I had worn my topper for about three weeks, removed it, and decided to spend a few days without it.

I made it about five days before I wanted it back. 😂

I have extremely fine, thin hair, and after getting used to the fullness and coverage my integrated topper gives me, going back to my natural hair really made me realize just how much of a difference it makes for me.

This video was taken right after I reinstalled it. I was tired, sitting on my couch without a mirror, pulling my own hair through the cap—and honestly, once you get used to it, that part becomes surprisingly easy.

What I love most is that this isn’t a topper I have to remember to put on every morning. I sleep in it, shower in it, wash and style my hair with it, and then have it professionally maintained.

As someone who actually wears an integrated topper myself, I can tell you what the experience is really like—not just what it looks like in a before and after.

For me, after five days without it, the verdict was pretty clear:

I don’t want to go back. 🤍

And this is probably my favorite kind of extension makeover.

I love getting the maximum impact with the least amount of hair attached to the head. When one row can do the job beautifully, there’s no reason to add two or three.

The result is soft, natural and incredibly believable — just a much fuller, longer version of her own hair. ✨
