I’ve never done one of these “introduction” posts so here goes: Sup ya’ll! My name is Mike. I grew up in Texas and moved to LA in 2000, San Diego in 2017 & now, Meridian, Idaho as of the summer of 2025. I live my life with one moto “observe the masses and do the opposite”. The moment I see everyone doing it, being into it, or wanting to be it I go the other way. I am probably the most untypical person you will ever meet. I love dogs, coffee, European football (soccer), and the arts: fashion, photography, videography, graphic design, architectural design, etc… anything that gets creative inspo flowing. That said, growing up the son of an amazing classical artist, I am a big art snob & very critical about what most people call “art” these days. I picked up the guitar at an early age and was a touring musician before I got into hair. Once I got into hair, I realized I wanted to solely cut hair and was fortunate enough in the beginning years to work for Vidal Sassoon. I taught at the Sassoon Academy in LA & eventually headed up the Sassoon Advanced Academy in Miami. I broke off in 2013 to start my education company The Kingly Hair Group which has taken me all over the world from Europe and Russia down to Mexico & Brazil and all over the U.S. I’ve been a true independent educator since 2013 with no ties or agenda to promote any product line or tool company. And will always stay that way. Opened up my first salon in 2017 in North Park San Diego & opened up two more in La Jolla, Ca. I’ve been a full-time cutting educator now for about 16 years teaching a minimalistic masterful approach to haircutting. In August 2021 I almost lost my life to Covid and found myself fighting for my life on life support in a coma for two months in the hospital followed by almost a year of recovery learning how to breathe & walk again. In 2023 I unexpectedly entered single life again and realized it was time to reset it all. So stoked to be in Meridian, Idaho now bringing my expertise in masterful cutting education & salon work to my new studio location .thesalon! And I’ll end by saying, above all things I boldly declare Christ is King…. hence The “Kingly” Hair Group.⚡️👑⚡️
