I always do my best to stay informed and educate my clients on servies that they might become aware of in the marketplace.

RF microneedling has always been an area of medically driven aestheic procedures I’ve been hesitant to recommend to my clients. Especially because heat is being driven into the delicate layers of the skin.

When clients do ask me about it, I am always surprised at how little education is provided to consumers when it comes to this modality. I have been told time and time again that they are told it’s just like micro needling but better. It is in fact, not just like micro needling. Is it nice that you trust your practitioner? Absolutely, but you also want to be sure your practitioner is licensed, properly and thoroughly trained and can manage any type of pre-and post care needs.

We also need to have realistic expectations as to what responsibility the consumer holds. The consumer is responsible for their pre-home care regimen and asking as many questions as possible. They also are responsible for the post care that is needed after any type of procedure that is performed.

I also want to embolden consumers to use their voices. If they find anything uncomfortable, no matter what it is, it’s too uncomfortable. You feel like you’re being pushed to push through the discomfort. You are not connected with the provider who’s performing your service. I don’t care what the reason is, the consumer has the right to direct the practioner to stop the service.

I always advise my clients to sleep on it. To take in the information that was shared and genuinely consider if they know enough to make a well educated decision. Do they have the propensity for proper, well performed pre-and post procedural care and any downtime that might be involved? Based on their primary concerns and current health status, is the procedure best suited for them? Can you realistically commit to this process in its entirety?

We have seen injuries with this type of modality that are irreversible and to be clear there is risk in any treatment you choose to have done. So anytime you’re receiving any type of treatment where your practitioner is altering the barrier of your skin whether that be with chemical peels, lasers, microneedling, dermaplaning etc, do your due diligence and research. Make sure they are properly licensed, qualified and thoroughly TRAINED to provide the services that you are receiving.

What we provide in this industry can be life-changing, but it can also be life altering and I always want to remind my clients to never forget that.
