Yes, this is long, but informative

I want to first start out with that this is a Recovery House review only, and is based on my personal experience, and what I thought was best for me and my recovery after BBL. Deciding on your care after SX should definitely be equal to the decision in choosing your doctor. After doing the math, I decided that it was more beneficial for me to go by myself and stay my entire stay at a recovery home than to bring someone not medically trained, and stay at a hotel. If you calculate all the expenses that go into bringing another person, the hotel fees, the rental car, the food and their plane ticket, you’re going to spend as much, if not more than you would at a recovery house.. it was easy math for me. This is not a vacation, your decision should be made entirely on the care that’s going to be given to you which is the most important in this process. I was referred to Johanna with Elite RN Recovery by someone at the surgery center, and it turned out to be the absolute best decision that I made. Johanna and I spoke many times before I arrived in Miami and built a rapport, so when I arrived it was seamless. She is very sweet and friendly, but professional, educated, and extremely knowledgeable of the SX process due to her own personal experience, as well as the experience of taking care of others. I arranged my stay from Monday to Monday and arrived the day before my surgery. She drove me straight from airport to my preop, handled my prescriptions, then took me to her recovery home to get settled in. We had discussed what food I liked before I arrived, and she accommodated, however, everything I thought I wanted was definitely not what I ate the first few days.. thankfully she was prepared and had Gatorade’s, broths, crackers, ice cream.. everything I usually stay away from turned out to be my saving grace. Johanna had everything from chux pads, to CBD Gummies, Tylenol and Motrin... my linens, room and laundry were cleaned regularly, sometimes several times a day. My chux pads were changed out many times a day, especially during the first few days due to the amount of draining I had. I was spoon fed in the beginning because I was struggling to do much of anything. There was a bedside bell, I hit it, and within seconds someone was tending to me. I had surgery first thing the next morning after I arrived and it was VERY rough and scary.. after getting back to the recovery home I slept for a bit but when I woke up I had to p*e.. while being helped up, I saw all the bloody fluid I had drained, and it was A LOT, and I passed out and slid right to the floor.. trust me when I say if I was in a hotel with my mom, sister, cousin, best friend, or spouse.. 911 would have been called. Johanna was calm, and knows what to expect.. she knows what is normal, or something to be concerned with, she took my blood pressure, and monitored me regularly, gave me gatorade, and I eventually bounced back. My point is SHES PREPARED! She has IV bags for fluid and other things if needed, and because she’s a Nurse Practitioner, she can administer those things on the spot. Please don’t go into to your SX decision lightly.. the RH is AS important as the doctor you choose. Don’t be concerned about what the back yard has, or doesn’t, be concerned about what’s inside.. don’t be concerned about shopping and site seeing, be concerned about healing so that you protect your investment in the early stages when it is most detrimental. She even gave me an IV Vitamin treatment towards the end of my stay which definitely perked me up for my flight back home. The RH is in a nice, quiet neighborhood..and in THE PERFECT location.. she’s 10-15 minutes away from Miami International Airport, Miami Life Surgery Center, as well as other surgery centers.... you won’t realize just how important being close to all those things is until after your surgery... every minute in a car feels like 20, so you want your RH to be close to everywhere you need to be. One last important thing.. Miami Life included 3 massages, which she took me to.. but she also can arrange for you to get massages at the RH.. she will drive you from and to the airport, as well as to and from all your post operative care at your surgery center.. and what a blessing that was. Again, please don’t go into your recovery lightly.. she may be new, but her experience is bar none.. she was by far the best decision, and easiest money I ever spent.
