Stop wasting your time in the gym.

It you’re a dad over 40, these three habits are quietly killing your results:

❌Skipping breakfast “for IF”- but never hitting your protein by end of day. That’s not fasting. That’s just muscle loss.

❌Only doing cardio - Cardio burns calories now. Muscle burns calories all day.
You need both, but lifting has to come first.

❌Waiting until Monday - Your body doesn’t care about your calendar. The best day to start was last week. The second best is today.

If you’re losing weight quickly, whether from dieting hard, medication, or just going all in, and you’re not eating enough protein, here’s what’s actually happening to your body.

Losing weight fast without enough protein = losing muscle.

And losing muscle means:
• Slower metabolism
• Less strength and energy
• The “skinny-fat” look instead of lean and strong

The fix is simple - hit your protein target every single day.

Minimum: 0.7-1g per pound of bodyweight.
200 Ibs? That’s 140-200g of protein. Every.
Day.

Chicken. Eggs. Greek yogurt. Cottage cheese. Shakes. Whatever it takes.
Lose the fat. Keep the muscle.

That’s the real transformation.

Being a dad means people count on you. That’s exactly why your health can’t be optional.

Rule 1: Workouts are non-negotiable.

Schedule them like appointments. Don’t leave them up to chance or mood.

Rule 2: Prioritize protein at every meal.

Protein helps you build muscle, recover better, stay fuller, and keep body fat under control.

Rule 3: Move every single day.

Even if it’s not a lifting day, walk, stretch, play with your kids, get outside. Daily movement keeps your body and mind sharp.

Rule 4: Sleep like it matters, because it does.

Poor sleep crushes energy, hormones, recovery, mood, and fat loss. Protect your sleep like you protect your work schedule.

Rule 5: Meet minimum standards.

Have a baseline you refuse to fall below — at least 3 workouts per week, 7,500 steps per day, enough water, and better food choices most of the time. Minimum standards keep you on track even when life gets busy.

Dads don’t need to be perfect. But they do need to stay strong, capable, and healthy for the people who depend on them.

Sunlight is one of the most overlooked tools for better health, energy, and mood. Morning outdoor light hitting the eyes helps set your circadian clock, supports daytime alertness, and helps your brain regulate key chemistry tied to mood and sleep. Light exposure also suppresses melatonin early in the day so you feel more awake now and sleep better later.

There’s a reason people feel better when they get outside. Light to the retina is part of the signal chain that influences dopamine-related alertness and motivation, and daylight is also tied to serotonin pathways that support mood and emotional stability. Less natural light exposure can make energy, mood, and sleep feel off.

And no, this does not mean stare at the sun or roast yourself for hours. It means smart, regular daylight exposure. Get outside, especially earlier in the day, keep your eyes open to natural light, and use common sense with skin and eye safety. Outdoor light is usually far brighter than indoor light, which is one reason it’s so effective for circadian timing.

Simple truth:
☀️ More natural light
🧠 Better mood and alertness
😴 Better sleep rhythm
⚡ Better drive to actually move and do the work

Get outside. Walk. Breathe. Let your body do what it was designed to do.
