Michael Francis Salon will be reopening on Monday,June 1st, 2020. We are happy to welcome everyone back 🥳! Please call📞 the salon for an appointment. We will be checking our voicemail messages daily and will return your call.

In the meantime, we will operate with the following guidelines:
1. Service will be offered by appointment only.
2.Everyone will be required to wear a facemask.
3.There will not be a waiting area in the building. Please wait in your car and we will call you when it's your turn.

We have been self-certified under Department of Economic and Community Development with certification number BRC-00004637.

Helpful tips for a root retouch.

1. Speed matters, having someone help you will generally be much faster.

2. Don't overlap (a little is ok), color meant for the roots shouldn't overlap more than 1/4".

3. Start on the part and go down the sides first (in case you run out of color make sure the front is done)

4. Don't take large sections. This one is tricky for most, in general each section should be about the thickness of a pencil.

5. Color thickens, don't go crazy applying too much color on each section or you will run out very easily. As color oxidizes it expands a little, its better to do a quick apply and then go through the hair a second time looking for any dry patches.

6. Don't use really hot water when rinsing it out. This can wash out the color and give you a hollow appearance.

This last tip isn't really about a root retouch but can save some people from a hair tragedy.

7. COLOR CAN NEVER LIGHTEN PREVIOUSLY COLORED HAIR, unless you want to have black hair, do not color over hair that has already been colored. It doesn't matter the amount of time that has passed or how much the color has faded there is a risk of a chemical interaction between product brands.

So we have some color kits available but they are only meant for clients who do regular root retouches (usually to cover gray hair). If you are blonde, have highlights, or need all of your hair recolored please contact me to discuss your personal situation.

It seems like we will be closed for longer than anticipated. Currently we are looking into creating take home color kits. In the meantime if you need help with your hair color please let us know, you can leave a message here.
