MYTH: Going darker automatically means less maintenance.
Well… not necessarily!
I hear this one quite a bit in my chair. And while darker hair can be easier to maintain, there’s a little more to it than simply picking a pretty brown.
If you’ve been blonde or have previously lightened hair, going darker takes some planning!
✨ Your hair may need warmth added back before going brunette.
✨ The right shade should complement your skin tone and natural coloring.
✨ Previously lightened hair can fade faster, which means a gloss or color refresh may still be needed.
And here’s something I always remind my clients: Low maintenance doesn’t mean NO maintenance.
The goal isn’t just beautiful hair when you leave my chair. It’s creating a color that works with your lifestyle and still looks beautiful weeks later.
Thinking about trading your blonde for brunette? Let’s talk about a color plan that makes sense for YOU!
Sometimes the best blonde transformation isn’t about going lighter. It’s about getting everything working together.
This beautiful refresh was all about bringing new life to her blonde!
We traded the grown-out length for a fresh, shorter cut and created beautiful dimension with brightness, depth, and movement.
And can we talk about how much fuller and bouncier those ends look?!
One of my favorite things about doing hair is creating a look that feels completely refreshed while still feeling like YOU.
Thinking about changing things up? Save this transformation for inspiration at your next appointment!

A little blonde. A little pinky purple. A whole lot of personality.
Who says beautiful hair has to play by the rules?
Sometimes it’s soft and natural. Sometimes it’s bold and dramatic. And sometimes it’s the perfect little pop of COLORFULNESS!
I love creating colors that reflect the person wearing them, whether that’s a subtle change or something a little more adventurous.
And this blonde with those gorgeous colorful ribbons? Such a fun combination!
Because your hair should feel like YOU.
Now I need to know…
Would you add a little pink or a little purple to your blonde, or are you keeping things classic?

There are a few sentences that will make a hairstylist stop what she’s doing.
And one of them is…
“Okay, don’t be mad, but I did something to my hair.”
Oh, the stories I’ve heard behind the chair!
The box color that was only supposed to cover a few grays.
The bangs that seemed like a really good idea at 11:30 at night.
The purple shampoo that somehow became an overnight hair mask.
And my personal favorite…
“I watched a tutorial, and it looked SO easy!” 🤣
Here’s the thing, though.
I’m not going to be mad at you.
Hair experiments happen. Sometimes they turn out great, and sometimes we learn why hairstylists spend so much time learning color theory.
But please, please tell me what you’ve used on your hair.
Not because I’m judging you, but because knowing your hair’s history helps me make safer, better decisions about what we can do next.
And I promise, whatever happened in your bathroom, you’re probably not the first person who’s tried it.
My chair is a judgment-free zone. But your hair history? I need ALL the details.
Now I’m curious… have you ever had a DIY hair experiment that didn’t go quite as planned?

Can we talk about changing our minds for a minute?
I’ve had women sit in my chair who have been blonde for years and suddenly want to go dark.
Brunettes who are ready for something brighter.
And women who have spent their whole lives playing it safe with their hair and finally decide they’re ready for RED.
And you know what?
I love it.
Because sometimes what suited us five years ago isn’t what we want today.
And I think that goes for more than just hair.
We’re allowed to grow. We’re allowed to discover new things about ourselves. We’re allowed to take a different direction than the one we originally planned.
I believe we are given room to grow, and we can give ourselves that same grace.
So whether you’re thinking about a completely different hair color or just making a little change in your life, here’s your reminder:
You don’t have to stay the same person you were yesterday.
Now tell me… what’s a hair color you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t been brave enough to do yet?

Conditioner just makes my fine hair flat, so I skip it.
Oh, friend… let’s talk about that!
If you have fine hair, you’ve probably experienced that frustrating feeling of washing your hair, conditioning it, and then watching all your volume disappear.
But here’s the thing…
Fine hair still needs conditioning! It just needs the RIGHT conditioner, used the RIGHT way.
A few things I tell my clients:
✨ Choose a lightweight conditioner made for fine hair.
✨ Focus on your mid-lengths and ends instead of piling it onto your roots.
✨ Start with a small amount. More product doesn’t always mean better results.
✨ Rinse thoroughly so you’re not leaving unnecessary residue behind.
And here’s something important: Fine hair and thin hair aren’t the same thing. Fine describes the diameter of each strand. Thin describes how much hair you have.
You can have a whole lot of fine hair!
The goal isn’t to skip caring for your hair. It’s to find products and a routine that work WITH it.
That’s one of the reasons I love what I do. Hair care isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither are the women sitting in my chair.
Tell me, does conditioner make your hair feel soft and beautiful, or does it leave you feeling flat?

Sometimes a little change turns into a whole new feeling.
And this transformation? Oh, she’s a good one!
We took her beautiful, naturally curly hair and created this rich, warm auburn brunette. The depth, the shine, those gorgeous coppery tones… everything works together so beautifully.
One of my favorite things about being a hairstylist is that no two heads of hair are the same. What looks amazing on one person might not be right for another, and that’s why I love creating something that feels like YOU.
Because beautiful hair isn’t about looking like somebody else. It’s about finding a look that makes you feel like your best self.
So tell me… are you loving all these warm fall tones, or are you holding on to your blonde?

It’s the little details that make me fall in love with doing hair all over again.
The way a few lighter pieces can brighten up a blonde.
The way a little depth makes those brighter pieces stand out.
The way the light catches all those different tones when the hair moves.
After more than 20 years behind the chair, I still get excited about these things. And I hope I never stop.
Because to me, doing hair has never been just about mixing color and putting foils in someone’s hair.
It’s about creating something beautiful for the person sitting in my chair. Something that fits her, feels like her, and hopefully puts a smile on her face when she catches her reflection.
I truly believe there’s something special about getting to use the talents God has given us to make a difference in someone else’s day.
And I’m so grateful that this is what I get to do.
Now, can we appreciate this gorgeous dimensional blonde?! Because those ribbons of brightness are making my hairstylist heart so happy!
If you’re dreaming of a little more dimension in your blonde, I’d love to help you find the right look for you.

Can we talk about saving things for special occasions?
The nice outfit hanging in the closet. The perfume we only wear when we’re going somewhere fancy. The hairstyle we’ve been wanting to try but keep putting off until we have somewhere special to go.
I hear it behind the chair sometimes.
“I’d love to do something different, but I don’t really have anything coming up.”
And I always wonder…when did we decide that an ordinary Tuesday wasn’t special enough?
I’m not saying you need a fresh color and a blowout to run to Walmart.
But I do think we sometimes forget that the little everyday moments make up most of our lives.
I believe we are given beautiful things to enjoy along the way, not just when there’s a big celebration on the calendar.
So wear the outfit. Use the perfume. Try the haircut you’ve been thinking about.
Not because you need to look a certain way.
But because there’s nothing wrong with finding a little joy in an ordinary day.
And if your next big event is just grocery shopping and picking up the kids? That’s okay too.

Can we talk about how sometimes the smallest changes take the most courage?
I can’t tell you how many times someone has sat in my chair and said, “I’ve been thinking about changing my hair for YEARS.”
And I always smile because I get it.
It’s easy to get comfortable with what we know. The same haircut, the same color, the same routine.
And sometimes there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But sometimes we feel that little nudge to try something different, and fear talks us right out of it.
What if I don’t like it?
What if it’s too much?
What if I regret it?
Here’s something I’ve learned, both behind the chair and in life:
You don’t have to be fearless to try something new. You just have to be willing to take one little step.
Maybe that’s adding a few warm ribbons to your brunette. Maybe it’s finally trying that haircut you’ve been saving on Pinterest.
Or maybe it has nothing to do with hair at all.
I believe each of us are given opportunities to grow, and sometimes that growth begins with being brave enough to take a small step forward.
Whatever that looks like for you today, I hope you’ll give yourself a little grace along the way.
And can we appreciate this gorgeous dimension for a second?! Those warm tones are everything for fall.
