Cover-ups don’t always go this smoothly, but when they do, it’s everything 🤍
She came in with previous work from about 8–10 years ago that had faded into a warm, salmon/red tone. In most cases, I’m very selective with cover-ups because I want to make sure I can actually give my client the result they’re looking for long-term, not just a temporary fix.
Luckily, her shape was still workable, and based on how she wanted to go with her color and overall look, her previous pigment actually worked in our favor. After mapping and a thorough consult, I was able to go in with nano strokes + soft shading to rebuild her brows right over the existing work.
And the end result… speaks for itself 🫶🏼
Her reaction meant everything to me. Natural, soft, and truly hers again, that’s always the goal.🥰
One of my students said she feels more nervous about shaping than tattooing… and honestly, she should be.🤷🏻♀️⬇️
The shape is what everything else sits on.
If the shape is off, it doesn’t matter how good your technique is. The brows just won’t look right once they’re healed.
But when the shaping is intentional, and we create a shape that’s going to be timeless for our clients, that’s when we get longevity from the brows, especially when it’s paired with a soft tattooing technique.
Every client brings a different canvas. Bone structure, hair growth, density, patterns. No two are the same, which is why shaping can feel inconsistent when you’re still learning what to look for.
During model assist days, we’re talking through those differences in real time. What I’m seeing, what I’d adjust, and why. That’s where things start to click.
