In the studio we're all about the hair, but we know that a whole world exists outside those doors, and we love showing up for our community out there!

This weekend we're proud to be sponsoring one of our favorite events, BACK from a long hiatus, its !

Haven't heard of it before? We've got you!

From 2006 until 2016, Babes in Bikeland was the largest and longest-running all femme, trans and women-centered allecyat (unsanctioned urban bike race) in the country. The ride inspired generations of new riders to challenge themselves, meet a new community and experience a bike space guided by the ethos of “by us and for us.”

Though ten years have passed since the last iteration of Babes, the community hasn’t gone away! We envision Babes in Bikeland 11 to be a celebration — a bike race and ride for women, trans, femme and gender expansive riders.

For the 2026 event, you will simply register at BikeReg (link in the Babes in Bikeland insta bio!) to participate. And at the start, riders will have the option of THREE route lengths (approximately 10 to as many as 30+ miles). Compete solo or cruise with friends. Dress in your speediest spandex or a fun costume. The choice is yours.

This year's race options are :
The Family Plan (10-12 miles to ride with your 15 yo and under littles of all genders) with kid friendly activities
The Party Pace (18 -20 miles in 4 hours or less) for newer or less experienced alley cat riders to get their toes wet
and
THE MAIN EVENT (25-35 miles) for ALL THE GLORY of being the one that did it! "You don't have to be a veteran you just have to want it"

Since accessibility matters, Ebikes are allowed in The Family Plan and The Party Pace categories, but are NOT eligible for podiums (but arent we all winners because we all get to have fun?)

See y'all on Saturday July 11th! Registration opens at 10:30am at Venture Bikes (Midtown Greenway at 10th Ave ramp). Race starts at 1pm.

With over 15 years in the industry, Laura is dedicated to delivering exceptional, customized results for every guest. Originally from New Jersey, her passion for hairstyling began at an early age and has grown into a lifelong career.

Laura has served as both an in-house brand educator and salon manager, roles that have refined her technical expertise and leadership within the industry. She specializes in precision cutting, with a particular love for curly textures and modern pixie cuts.

Outside of the salon, Laura enjoys spending time with her three children and exploring the outdoors through kayaking.

She's currently accepting new clients and welcoming clients from her former styling home base just a few blocks away over at The Shores Hair Design under Village Shores!

High Contrast colors need love!

Keeping those colors vibrant and separate is a bit of a delicate balance between keeping hair hydrated (so it doesn't get too porous and absorb other colors) and keeping the cuticle sealed (using low pH products to keep your hair color in the strands, staying where it should be!)

We don't book our services by gender, we book them by length! Yes a clipper cut is technically a "short" cut, but it helps stylists prepare their spaces and minds a bit more to have the extra clarification of a "clipper cut" option out there on the online booking system 😎
