At Splash of Style, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and understood, especially during experiences that can feel overwhelming. For many families, a haircut is a simple task. But for children with sensory sensitivities, autism, ADHD, anxiety, etc. a haircut can be incredibly challenging. The sounds of clippers, feeling of water, hair touching their skin, sitting still, or being in a busy environment can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why creating a sensory safe haircut experience has become such an important part of who we are.

We know that every child is different. Some children may need extra time, some may need breaks throughout their appointment. Some may prefer scissors over clippers, or simply the reassurance that someone understands what they’re feeling. Whatever their needs may be, we are committed to meeting them where they are. Our goal is never just to complete a haircut. Our goal is to build trust.

We celebrate the small victories, the child who sits in the chair for the first time, the one who allows a cape for a few minutes longer than before, the one who gets through part of a haircut when they couldn’t before. Those moments are huge, and we’re honored to be part of them.

We understand that many families have had difficult experiences in the past. Some parents come to us feeling nervous, or afraid that another haircut appointment will end in tears and frustration. We want those families to know they are not alone. At Splash of Style, there is no judgment. There is no expectation that every appointment will look the same. There is only patience, understanding, flexibility, and support.

We are continuously learning, growing, and finding new ways to make our salon a welcoming space for all children. Being sensory safe isn’t just a service we offer, it’s a commitment to helping every child feel comfortable, confident, and accepted exactly as they are.
