Since the very beginning, someone has always had something to say about my career.

When I was in beauty school, people told me,
“That’s not a real career. It should be your backup plan… your hobby.”

When I got licensed…
“You should work for someone else. Owning a salon is too hard.”

When I became a certified makeup artist and extension specialist…
“Pick one. You can’t do both.”

Then I opened a salon.
Then a spa.
Then an education center.

And with every new chapter came another opinion.

The crazy part?

I used to tell everyone what I was working on because I was genuinely excited. I thought sharing my dreams meant people would cheer me on.

Instead… I learned that not everyone deserves a front-row seat to your vision.

The hardest season for me came when I started talking about becoming a certified stylist and possibly adding color analysis.

The criticism got louder.

“You’re stealing clients.”
“I built this community and you’re trying to take over.”

I let those words get into my head.

For almost two years.

Not because they were true…
But because I gave them permission to matter.

So now?

I move differently.

I still welcome wisdom.
I still listen to people who’ve earned the right to speak into my life.

But I’ve stopped handing unfinished dreams to people who only know how to criticize them.

Now, the people who know what I’m building fit around one dinner table.

My husband.
My sister.
A few people I trust with my heart.

Everyone else?

They’ll see it when it’s finished.

So if you’re building something…
Starting over…
Taking a scary first step…

This is your reminder:

You don’t need everyone’s approval to chase your dream.

Protect it.
Work in silence.
Let your results do the talking.

I’m proud of you.

Keep building.
