Salon and School Reopening Update May 20, 2020 5:54pm In a press conference today Governor Cooper announced the plans for Phase 2 businesses to reopen. Phase 2 does include cosmetic art shops and schools. May 22, 2020 at 5:00pm shops and schools can reopen with restrictions per Executive Order 141.

Salon and School Reopening Update May 18, 2020 - in Executive Order 138 Governor Cooper confirmed the beginning of the phased plan for reopening businesses in NC. The order states that cosmetic art shops are still closed through at least May 22, 2020. At today’s press conference the Governor indicated he should be able to make an announcement by mid-week regarding what’s going to happen Friday. We don’t yet know what that announcement may be, but we will continue to provide further updates as they are available.
The Board has reached out to the Governor’s office and shared our infection control regulations. When the Governor releases shop reopening guidelines to the Board, we will immediately release information to licensees. The decision to reopen businesses rests with the Governor, not with the Board or Board staff but please continue to contact us, we are glad to help answer questions.

Are schools and shops closed in NC?

Yes, all personal care and grooming businesses have been closed in NC to ensure social distancing. The purpose of the order (Executive Order 138) is to help prevent person to person spread of the COVID-19 virus so any place that offers such services is closed. There is no specific date assigned for cosmetic art shops and schools to reopen at this time.
