When it comes to sunscreen you should be putting this much on your face and neck. Donโ€™t forget the lips ears and eyes as well.

For the rest of your body, you need a shot glass full of sunscreen for optimal protection!

Sunscreen is the #1 product you will need to protect your skin from sun damage and aging. Itโ€™s easier to prevent than to correct ๐Ÿ™ƒ

It can be difficult to tell if you have dry skin or dehydrated skin.

Dry skin is a lack of oil. Ingredients to look for in products: Shea butter, dimethicone, ceramides, & squalane. Taking an essential fatty acid supplement (fish oil) will also help.

Dehydrated skin is a lack of water. Ingredients to look for: snail mucin, hyaluronic acid, aloe, & glycerin. Watch you caffeine intake & up your water intake as well!

* you can be oily & dehydrated. When you lack water your skin can produce excess oil. If you suffer from this I encourage you to use moisturizers or serums with niacinamide to help balance your oil production as well as promote hydration within the skin.

To tell if you have dehydrated skin, pinch the skin & if it takes awhile for it to return to itโ€™s normal state then you are most likely dehydrated.

If youโ€™re struggling with dehydrated skin, you are experiencing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This is when the water evaporates from the skin into the environment. The humidity outside also contributes to this! The less humidity, the faster TEWL happens.

The enzymes in your skin cannot function properly without high moisture levels!

Using hydrating serums correctly & locking them in with a good moisturizer is key!

DM me to schedule a consultation & letโ€™s get your skin care routine on point ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

Aging is inevitable but here are some tips to help you age gracefully.

Wear the sunscreen!!!! This is the #1 product to help prevent extrinsic aging (aging from environmental factors)

Using antioxidants like vitamin c can help protect your skin from free radical damage. Free radicals are molecules that have 1 or more unpaired electrons & will steal an electron from the skin cell - thus causing damage to the skin. Antioxidants will give the free radical an electron to help prevent damage. You can also protect your skin from free radical damage by eating foods (broccoli, spinach, potatoes, carrots, etc) that are antioxidant rich as well!

Exfoliating 1-2xs each week is a great way to soften those fine lines & wrinkles by increasing cellular turnover, getting rid of dead skin cells and revealing new skin.

Using topical vitamin a increases cellular turnover but also stimulates our fibroblast cells & in turn produces collagen to help diminish fine lines & wrinkles.

Drinking enough water is a must to help hydrate the skin, but not the only thing it needs. Applying topical serums and products are important to lock in that moisture to prevent transepidermal water loss (water evaporating from the skin).

We also need to hydrate the skin INTERNALLY! Our skin needs essential fatty acids to function properly. Omega 3 & 6 are the building blocks for healthy cell membranes & are a must for healthy skin cells.
