I lovvvve Pigment Bar!!! It’s been a favorite for a long time. After Covid, we all know, it was hard to get some products, ingredients etc. so I stopped ordering it because it was incredibly difficult to get. Which was disappointing. But! It’s back and the studio is stocked!! I’m fact, I know these are going to go fast so I ordered more last night.

Reasons I ❤️ Pigment Bar

✨Kojic & Azelaic acids to brighten and fade hyperpigmentation

✨Gentle exfoliation

✨Skin feels so CLEAN, SMOOTH, SOFT. and FRESH after use

✨Last minimum 3 months

A little before and after for your Sunday time line ✨

This client had an eczema flare up that left her with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is very common amongst people of color who experience trauma to the skin.

This is the result of using the White Veil Brightener only.

This is the best non-hydroquinone lightener I have ever worked with and here’s why it’s so effective:

•Niacinamide-reduces inflammation
•Alpha-Arbutin-lightens and reduces hyperpigmentation and free radicals
•Sepi White-Lightener & Brightener
•Chromabright-New lightener proven to be as effective as Hydroquinone without the possible side effects of HQ. Inhibits the production of tyrosinase which produces melanin

Available to purchase in studio or online at www.pink-room.org

I say all the time that I want my clients to LOVE their skincare time and I mean it! Here’s a few tips that I think will help you stick to your routine better

1. Don’t get comfy before you do your PM skincare. AM is for protecting, PM is for correcting…meaning at night our skin is healing so your product application is important! When you get home from work do your skincare routine right away before getting comfy

2. If you’re a 3 step kinda person…then let’s get the best 3 steps we can for you. Don’t commit to 7 steps if you know you’re not that person

3. If you’re skin isn’t cleansed properly then your products are sitting on top of makeup, debris and dirt 🤢

4. Understand what each product is for, that way you’re not shooting in the dark or overusing certain ingredients

5. Listen….skincare is expensive ok? Don’t just aimlessly purchase things or because everyone else says it’s cool. Be intentional with your skincare selections

Going into peel season, it’s very important that the skin is properly “prepped”. What does “prepping” the skin for peels mean?

If I were to apply a chemical peel, especially a strong chemical peel, to skin that has never used a chemical exfoliant, never had a peel the skin may reactive negatively. It can be overwhelming to the skin and can possibly result in irritation or even a chemical burn. Introducing chemical exfoliants to the skin at home, and slowly building up to more advanced treatments is a safer option.

Also, with skin that is prone to hyperpigmentation it is very important to be on home care that protects the melanocytes. Again, if I were to apply a chemical peel to skin that has not been using any tyrosinase (enzyme responsible for producing melanin or pigment) inhibitors, the trauma from the peel can cause hyper-pigmentation.

So! For September all skincare that prepares the skin for advanced peels is 10% off. This includes:

•Circadia Vitamin C Reversal serum
•Circadia White Veil Brightener
•GlyMed Plus Dermapigment gel
•GlyMed Plus AHA Accelerator
•GlyMed Plus retinols
•PCA Skin Body Therapy
•Skin Scripts Glycolic & Retinol pads
•all sun protection

🤔As an aesthetician of color I’m breaking this myth all the way down!

We’ve heard this saying for years, but is it a scientistific fact? The answer is…YES! But there’s more to the story and that what I’m going to explain.

Because skin of color (not just African decent but all heavily melinated skin) has a much larger presence of melanin, skin of color does age slower. The melanin protects skin of color from the sun, which is mostly responsible for the signs of aging we see show up on skin in the form of lines, wrinkles and sun spots.

However, let’s be very real here. As an aesthetician I have seen skin of color that most definitely has “cracked” and is very unhealthy. I’ve actually heard people of color say…”I’m not worried about my skin, you know, black don’t crack”. This is when I have to flip the script and explain some things.

Because skin of color does not age the same as caucasian skin does not mean it doesn’t need care or sun protection. The #1 skin concern for people of color is hyper-pigmentation, which is also the #1 concern I address daily at work. The sun will tan dark skin just like it does light skin and what happens when a dark mark tans? It gets even darker. Other issues and concerns I see in skin of color that can cause the skin to not look as healthy as it could is acne, excessive oiliness and dry patches. I also see a lot of skin of color that is unhealthy as a result of conditions such as PCOS, diabetes, and eczema. These concerns often lead to other concerns that can leave the skin not looking it’s best.

I say all of that to say just because our skin does not age the same as light skin, does not mean there are no concerns and we don’t have to care for our skin at all. My goal is to especially educate people of color on the benefits of taking care of their skin and why it’s necessary.

Meaning….perfection is not the goal. For example, acne will occur, you may get a new dark spot or sun spot. Your skin is still going to respond and act like…skin 🤷🏽‍♀️

The goal is to make progress by correcting and protecting the skin much as possible. When we get the results we want we can protect those results but it doesn’t mean from then on your skin is going to be perfect.
