I have a difficult time turning off my mind and just being still. I seem to be more of a human doing than a human being. This quarantine has pushed my mental limit of slowing down tremendously. I’ve noticed friends and fellow salon folk pushing out content and thought “maybe I should DO MORE”. But, why? This time to BE STILL is a gift. How often are we forced to do nothing? I know, it can seem boring when there is literally no where to go, but that’s kind of exciting? To find joy & purpose outside of our phones and careers. What would we do if neither existed? .

This is tremendously difficult in our media rich, always-on, over-communicated society. Noise crowds into every empty crevice, leaving us spiritually, mentally, and emotionally exhausted.

I want to try to maintain perspective. If I don’t make time to be still, then I find myself in reactive mode, influenced by hundreds of little voices with big demands.

I want to try to connect to my true self. I don’t want to get confused, thinking that I am the image I present to the world. They are related, of course, but I want to live from the inside out. It can cause stress to always try to live up to an expectation you yourself have created! .

I want more internal margin in my life. ..more room to notice what matters most and be thankful for it.

I decided I am going to take a far less active roll on social media for my work & personal life because I want to feel well rested when I return. I’ve been doing hair for over 15 years and mama needed this. I’m an achiever personality so it’s hard for me to make a stop while watching the world continue to go go go (on social media).

This is not something I have enough experience with to boast about. In fact, I feel pretentious for even attempting it. But I have a feeling this chance to actually be still & present outside of social media will have a very positive impact on my mental well being. I encourage you to try too! If you miss me, give me a call! I’ll do the same!

I just wanted to take the time out and thank all my clients & friends who have supported me over the years! It’s been 15 years doing hair in Nashville & almost a decade in this tiny studio home where I lay my shears. If someone told me when I was younger that I would have such a fun career & that I’d be able to bring my kid along with no problems, I would say yeah right! But here I am, and isn’t she the cutest?! ( Although I keep the kiddo at the salon to a super minimum!) I’m just feeling super sentimental about all of you new friends and old buddies. Thanks for being a part of my dream, my life! Starting tomorrow until Tuesday I will be out of the studio for some rest and relaxation. I hope everyone enjoys this festive it’s-almost-Halloween weekend! Love & hugs, Tam. ❤️✨🎃

I’ve been purposefully spending quality time outside this week to clear my head, get my body moving, and maybe even rid myself of unwanted negativity. I highly suggest it! It has made me more centered in my work, and a lot less fidgety! Mother Earth can be so good for us! Got my hands on this angels hair yesterday & it was ✨magic✨ I’ve enjoyed this week so much, and I’m hopeful I can continue this outside trend as much as possible! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 happy almost weekend! .
