The saying ‘friends are chosen family’ has never been truer than in these last two years as we realized how important our social connections are to our physical and emotional health. Yet, often it is those closest to us that receive the worst we have to give, and even if they’re getting our best it is easy to get caught up in life and forget to show our gratitude for all the ways they show up for us and enhance our lives. Today let’s choose gratitude for those people closest to us and for all they bring into our lives.

As you go throughout your day and week, take note of the things that you are thankful for about your spouse, significant other, friends and other family members. Write them down or keep a note in your phone. How can you show them gratitude today? Send a text. Write a letter. Send a cup of coffee. Somehow let them know why you are grateful for their friendship.

If there are relationships that need apologies, healing or more depth, take the first step to strengthen those relationships and choose gratitude for the opportunity.
