How Can a Lawyer Help For Cerebral Palsy Caused by Medical Malpractice? – Credihealth Blog – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/08/2022

How Can a Lawyer Help For Cerebral Palsy Caused by Medical Malpractice? – Credihealth Blog

Medical malpractice is a serious issue. Every year, there are 15,000 to 19,000 medical malpractice lawsuits against doctors. When doctors, nurses, or other medical professionals make careless mistakes, it can lead to serious patient injuries.

A serious injury that can result from medical malpractice is cerebral palsy. If you or your child has had cerebral palsy due to medical malpractice, you must seek legal help immediately. You can check out websites like https://cpfamilynetwork.org/resources/what-is-medical-malpractice/ for more information.

This blog will discuss how a lawyer can help you file a claim and get the compensation you deserve.

Lawyers Have the Experience and Knowledge To Build a Strong Case

Cerebral palsy is a serious condition that can profoundly affect the victim and their family. If you believe your child’s cerebral palsy was caused by medical malpractice, it’s important to speak with an experienced lawyer who can help you understand your legal options.

Lawyers who handle medical malpractice cases have the experience and knowledge to build a strong case on your behalf. They will investigate the circumstances surrounding your child’s birth and review all medical records to determine if there was any negligence on the part of the healthcare providers.

Suppose they find that medical malpractice did occur. In that case, they will work to hold the responsible parties accountable and help you recover the compensation you need to cover your child’s medical expenses.

They Can Help You Get the Maximum Compensation Allowed By Law

According to the statute of limitations in your state, you likely have two to three years to file a medical malpractice claim.

A lawyer can help investigate your case and gather the necessary evidence to prove that the health care provider acted negligently. It may include obtaining medical records, interviewing witnesses, and working with expert witnesses.

Your lawyer will also handle all the paperwork and legal filing deadlines. Finally, your lawyer will represent you in court if your case goes to trial.

You should not worry about any of this while trying to focus on your health and recovery. Instead, let a medical malpractice lawyer handle it for you.

They Can Deal With the Insurance Companies on Your Behalf

Insurance firms are notoriously difficult to work with, especially regarding claims for cerebral palsy. A lawyer can take care of all the paperwork and negotiations for you, so you don’t have to worry about anything.

They will also be able to answer any questions about your case and update you on its progress.

Some questions about insurance claims include:

How do you file a claim?

What are the deadlines for filing a claim?

How much money can you get from an insurance settlement?

How long will it take to get my settlement check?

An experienced lawyer will be able to answer all of these questions and more. They will also be familiar with the laws in your state that pertain to cerebral palsy claims, which can be very complex.

Some of the laws include:

The statute of limitations, which is the deadline for filing a claim

The standard of proof, which is the amount of evidence needed to prove your case

Damage caps limit the amount of money you can recover in an insurance settlement.

Conclusion

Whether you are the parent or grandparent of a child with cerebral palsy, you may have many questions and concerns about your legal rights. An experienced medical malpractice lawyer can help answer your questions and protect your rights.

The Importance of Physiotherapy | Credihealth Blog – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/08/2022

The Importance of Physiotherapy | Credihealth Blog

An episode of back pain can last for several weeks, and may also reoccur upon treatment. Physiotherapy is often considered to decrease back pain, increase function, provide education and support to prevent further recurrences and allow a patient to gradually return to normal activities.

How Physiotherapy Works

Physiotherapy involves physical and mechanical treatment methods to reduce pain in soft tissues like muscles, tendons and ligaments, improve function and build muscle strength.

Active Physiotherapy takes a holistic approach to recovery, looking at the whole body and providing ways to improve general well being along with treatment of specific illness or injury to a body area.

For example, back pain can be caused due to numerous reasons such as poor posture, awkward bending or twisting, overstretching, lifting heavy objects, or spinal deformity. A physiotherapist will help provide relief from back pain by recommending few changes and guiding a patient through strengthening exercises for back and good posture techniques that he/she can do himself/herself.

Physiotherapy Techniques

There are a number of treatment techniques that are used in physiotherapy to restore movement and normal body function. These include:

#1 Movement and exercise

Physiotherapists guide patients with exercises to strengthen an affected body area, which when repeated regularly over a course of few weeks improves mobility and function. Other gentle activities like walking and swimming are also recommended for those recovering from a surgery or sports injury.

#2 Manual therapy

Manual therapy uses hands to mobilise soft tissues and joints. It helps to improve circulation, drain fluid from affected body parts, improve movement, relieve pain and aid relaxation. Manual therapy proves very useful in treating chronic back pain that lasts for more than six weeks.

Manual therapy involves massage, stretching, joint mobilisation, manual resistance training and joint manipulation including spinal mobilisation. It is a prime method used by physiotherapists to remove movement restrictions and allow body to regain proper motion.

#3 Heat therapy

Heat application reduces pain and improves mobility and is especially useful against injuries to soft tissue like the tendon, muscle or ligament. It works best against muscle tightness and spasms and allows a therapist to stretch the affected area better.

#4 Ice therapy

Ice application is used to reduce pain and inflammation following an injury. Ice therapy works by constricting blood vessels of the affected soft tissue. This treatment makes a joint and tissue more mobile and enhances manual therapy.

#5 Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy as a medical treatment. It is used for relaxing muscle spasms, increasing blood circulation, reducing pain and promoting healing. Physiotherapy treatments in form of electrotherapy include:

Ultrasound – Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to generate heat deep in the body that helps in loosening up tissues ahead of manual therapy or exercise. It is best used for injury to connective tissues.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) – Using a TENS machine, which is a small battery-powered device that sends low electric currents through electrodes, the skin surface of the affected area is delivered electric stimulation. TENS works by blocking or supressing pain signals to the brain. However, it does not cause muscles to contract.

Laser therapy – Low-level lasers containing specific wavelengths of light are used to reduce inflammation, pain and muscle fatigue. The treatment is best used against muscle or connective tissue injuries to improve movement in an affected joint and reduce discomfort to the patient.

Diathermy – This method is most commonly recommended for joint conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. A high-frequency electric current is delivered to body tissue in form of ultrasound, microwave or shortwave. The heat increases blood flow and relieves pain. The current can reach as deep as two inches below the skin surface.

#6 Hydrotherapy (Aquatic therapy)

This form of physiotherapy is carried out in water, usually in a shallow swimming pool or a special hydrotherapy pool, and involves exercise routines that can be carried out in water without putting pressure on the spine. Hydrotherapy helps relieve pain, improve blood circulation and relax muscles.

#7 Physiotherapy Education

An important branch of physiotherapy rehabilitation is family or patient education. Along with specific treatments, a physiotherapist can guide a patient about his/her particular condition, how the symptoms can be managed at home, precautions that must be observed and ways to prevent re-injury.

Chiropractic Care And Physiotherapy To Help Your Body Heal Better – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/08/2022

Chiropractic Care And Physiotherapy To Help Your Body Heal Better

Each person today wants to live healthy and longer! And should there be any disease or physical discomforts, they try and work out ways to heal better. There have been instances of people recovering back to normalcy from a severe brain stroke and excruciating fibromyalgia pain or arthritis. Medication isn’t the only thing that has been working for them. They’ve also opted for other forms of treatment and therapy. Over the past few years, patients have gained ample benefit from physiotherapy and chiropractic care.

However, today, people still get confused between physiotherapy vs chiropractic care. Often people consider both alike and opt-in for chiropractic care when they need regular physiotherapy sessions. Do you resonate with this? If yes, then the explanation below might help you to know and decide better.

Physiotherapy And Its Uses

Usually, physiotherapy gets used when a patient has suffered from a chronic ailment. For instance, the patient has undergone spinal surgery or a stroke. Here physiotherapy gets recommended in addition to another set of medications and treatments to speed the recovery process. As an added therapy, doctors can also recommend chiropractic care to a patient who has spinal cord pain or undergone a critical surgery.

However, when the disease or physical condition is critical, you can’t substitute medication or surgery with chiropractic care. The main objective of physiotherapy is to allow the muscles and nerves to get back to their previous state of function. Usually, after a fatal stroke or injury, patients become stagnant and lead a static life. The main objective of physiotherapists is to make the patients active and help them become independent and move around freely. For this, it is essential to undergo 45 minutes of physiotherapy daily.

Chiropractic Care And Its Uses

Today, most people who want to lead a healthy life often walks into the chamber of a chiropractor. Simply put, chiropractors believe in triggering the body’s innate capacity to heal itself. Through muscle manipulation tactics and other movements, the chiropractors work on the affected region and help the patient to release muscle stress and nerve tension. Chiropractors believe that the root cause of all ailments lies within the body. Hence, they work towards finding the root cause and treating the patient accordingly.

They can help with physical issues like migraine pain, cluster headaches, stress-induced pain in the shoulders, neck, joints, and other parts of the body. It is essential to remember that when a patient can tap into his/her ailment at the early stage, they can use chiropractic care to heal holistically. However, when the symptoms and damages within the body become aggravated, it is necessary to opt-in for medication and surgery. And here, chiropractic care can get counted as an after-surgery or medication therapy.

Chiropractors also ask for a set of medical tests and have their questions to address. It would help if you got regular with the therapy sessions, which might not be daily like the first phase of physiotherapy sessions. Also, the chiropractors will ask you to implement a few lifestyle changes that enable you to heal better. Once you are aware of this, you can make an informed decision.

Everything You Must Know About Green, White Veins & Red Kratom – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/08/2022

Everything You Must Know About Green, White Veins & Red Kratom

Whether this is your first time learning about kratom or have been consuming kratom powder it for some time now, you can always learn new things about this beautiful, mystery herb. Mitragyna Speciosa or kratom is the kind of herb that different people have different favorites. While some prefer the effects of white ones, others like to for red, or green.

Which one is right for you, though? By reading this article, you might get some insight into that.

Types of Kratom Veins

Kratom Veins are of 3 types: Red Vein, Green Vein and White Vein. All three have different effects on the human body.

1. Red Vein

A kratom leaf has to fully mature before it can form red veins. The fact that these leaves are matured may make one think that they’re the best ones. But, that isn’t necessarily the case for everyone. You have to know that different veins have a unique alkaloid profile, which contributes to a spectrum of unique effects. Red-veined kratom carries the most balanced alkaloid profile, which gives it the maximum potency.

Effects of Red Vein

On the whole, you can expect to see more or less these range of effects (depending on the kind of strain you consume):

Pain management

Mild sedation

Relaxing effects

Improved focus and alertness

Energizing effects

Helpful in anxiety management

May help fall asleep by calming you

Strain Types

Red Vein Maeng Da – This is good for sedation and pain relief. At higher doses, the effects can be too intense. Therefore, make sure to use it judicially.

Red Thai – This strain provides relaxation and relief from pain without overwhelming you in any way

Red Bali and Borneo – Both these strains come from Borneo even though the names are different. They have a similar profile of effects. They are supposed to be stronger variants of red Thai that can make you mildly sedative if you consume higher doses.

Red Indo – This is the vein for you if you want to feel energized, but also focused and attentive at the same time.

Dosage

The range of effects can be extremely personal, varying from one person to another. This is based on a variety of factors such as physical build, tolerance levels, age, mental and physical health, quality of kratom consumed, etc.

To that end, start low (ideally with 3 grams) of a quality kratom. Wait it out and see if you experience any changes. Anything beyond 5g can have substantial effects. Therefore, go moderate when starting until you have confirmed a dose that works for you.

2. Green Vein

If you find a product that is labeled as derived from green vein kratom, know that it came from leaves with medium-level maturity. Again, this is not indicative of the kratom product carrying mild to mid-grade potency/quality. It only means that at the time of picking of leaves, the veins had reached a certain level of maturity (the point at which all the positive qualities at its highest). Green vein kratom is mostly preferred over white or red type. The effects are supposed to be subtle but long-lasting.

Range of effects

Energizing

Uplifting

Better outlook towards life

Euphoric at high doses

Sense of calm and focus

Types of strains

Green Bali – This one is the most relaxing. If you want to feel a surge of motivation and optimism, go for this. The energy kick is mild, not overwhelming.

Green Malay – This is best for improved cognitive functioning and mild analgesic effects.

Green Indo – This will calm you down in a way where you feel less anxious. If you don’t want kratom that’s physically overwhelming, go with Green Indo.

Green Borneo – At moderate doses, it should make you feel upbeat, energized, and positive towards life. At higher doses, the effects can be euphoric.

Dosage

While 5-6 grams of green vein kratom can be overwhelming to some, for others, it is actually a mild dosage. Therefore, consider all the factors such as age, time of consumption, health conditions, tolerance levels, etc. before establishing a dose. Start with 3 grams before slowly upping the dose over a long period until you hit that sweet spot.

3. White Vein Kratom

White veined leaves are picked at the earlier stages of their maturity. But don’t be fooled. Just because they are picked early does not make them any less potent. Kratom strains coming from the family of white-veined leaves are famous for their peace-inducing aftereffects. Many white veined strains are rare and hard to come by, often making them more expensive than others.

Effects

Better cognitive functioning

Improved mental focus

An energy boost

Has a feel similar to the caffeine rush

Mildly euphoric, elevated sensation

Strain types

White Bali – This particular strain can make you feel upbeat, energized, and focused. At higher doses, the effects can resemble mild euphoria. If you want to achieve mental and physical relaxation coupled with mild pain-relieving effects, this is the strain for you.

White Thai – It’s similar to white Bali, except you won’t really get to experience any relaxing or analgesic properties. The effects are mostly on the ‘higher’ end of the spectrum.

Dosage

Just like any other kratom, we suggest you start slow because most products won’t tell you which dosage to stick with. Therefore, ideally, you can start with 3 grams, all the while observing your mental and bodily changes. Wait for a white and up the dose by 1 gram if nothing happens. Anything around 5-7 can catch you by surprise, and the effects can be unexpected/unpleasant. So, avoid doing that.

Which one is the Best – Red, White, or Green?

It all depends on your personal preferences, the kind of effects you want to achieve, and your tolerance levels. Different individuals aim for different things. To that end, one might find white vein kratom the most promising deal, while for others, red ones may be the thing they need.

It’s essential to educate yourself about what to expect from each strain and each product. You also have to try out a bunch to figure out what’s your true calling. Stay patient, exercise caution, and set your expectations right to avoid feeling disappointed. It can be a while before you find the right product and the right dosage.

Dr. Praveen Chandra Talks About Interventional Cardiology – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/07/2022

Dr. Praveen Chandra Talks About Interventional Cardiology

Interventional Cardiology is an advanced branch of heart care. Patients with heart diseases can avoid surgery and choose this method of treatment. Under this, doctors can treat a heart condition by using a catheter (a thin tube) without doing surgery. If you are scared of huge cuts, stitches and a pool of blood, then interventional cardiology is one option to treat heart diseases.

We interacted with Dr. Praveen Chandra, Chairman of Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Cardiology at Medanta Hospital Gurgaon. Read on to know more about this type of heart care.

Basics of Interventional Cardiology

Ques 1. What are the most common procedures under this speciality?

Ans. The commonest procedures done under interventional cardiology are angioplasty, stenting and ballooning of the valves. Additionally, procedures for the replacement of the valves have now come up in a very considerable way. The replacement of valves through intervention is known as the TAVR procedure.

We also do pacemaker implantations and RF ablations. Treatments of the congenital problems of the heart are also being done now. Congenital means that some patients have problems like holes in their hearts, since birth. All of these can now be treated by interventions.

Ques 2. What risks are involved in treating a patient using a catheter-based method?

Ans. The catheter-based treatment methods have become very safe. Earlier, there used to be a chance of emergency operation or a patient suddenly developing some rupture of the arteries. However, now these procedures have become very safe and reliable. I will say that the safety angle is very good. The chances of having a complication are less than 1%.

Ques 3. What is the future of interventional cardiology in India? Will it expand and eventually minimize the need for cardiac surgeries?

Ans. Yes, interventional cardiology has been expanding and increasing its treatment options over the last several years. Now many patients are being treated by interventions rather than by surgery. We expect that in the coming years, interventional cardiology is going to further expand. And 90% of the heart patients will be treated by interventions, which mean no surgery, no cut, and no stitch.

Ques 4. What challenges do you face in terms of treatment and patient education?

Ans. Right now, I would say that the challenges are few, not many. The main challenges posed are regarding the cost of the treatment. The interventions that we do cost approximately a lakh or two lakhs. This amount is quite significant for many people in India. So the cost is one of the concerns. But this aspect is being addressed increasingly in the last few years.

The costs are being cut down so that more patients can be treated. As time progresses, many patients who were left untreated will now be treated by the interventions.

Ques 5. You have the credit of performing the first percutaneous aortic valve implantation without surgery in India. Can you share your experience of the same?

Ans. So we started this program of aortic valve implantation or aortic valve replacement without surgery in India a few years back. I must tell you that I am so grateful and gratified that this program has taken off everywhere. Now many patients are being treated for aortic valve stenosis by this technique. It has now become very well established around the world that these patients can be treated by percutaneous valve implantation, also known as TAVI procedure.

Also, read about: TAVI – Non Surgical Alternative to Aortic Valve Replacement

Ques 6. The young adults of India lead a sedentary lifestyle that is one of the prime causes of heart diseases. What advice would you give to this population?

Ans. As we already know that heart disease is a lifestyle disease. So if you change your unhealthy lifestyle, the chance of having a heart problem or a heart attack decreases majorly. Very alarmingly in India and even in other places in the world, we are seeing younger patients coming with heart diseases.

This is all being attributed to the control of lifestyle factors like exercise, eating habits, smoking and stress. These are the few factors that have to be kept under control and moderation for good heart health. And if people eventually enjoy a fit way of living, that is they keep exercising regularly and eat well, then they relax and become less stressful too. Gradually they will be better off and so fewer heart diseases will happen.

Ques 7. Does the sub-speciality, interventional cardiology, work in an interdisciplinary manner? For instance, are there conditions that require the use of catheter-based treatment combined with surgical procedures?

Ans. As things progress, we get patients in whom one thing is better than the other and vice-versa. So we have developed a new approach which is known as the heart team approach. The heart team approach or the multi-disciplinary team approach is taken in those patients where decision making is difficult.

We don’t know several times whether a By-pass surgery would be better or angioplasty would be better. So the heart team, which comprises a cardiac surgeon and a cardiologist, sits together and makes a decision that is best for the patient.

Similarly, many times patients come to us with kidney problems, heart problems, and brain problems. So all three specialists from respective disciplines come together to make a decision as to what should be done, which procedure should be done first, and what the patient can tolerate.

So this brings the best care for the patient. And that is what we do here in Medanta Hospital Gurgaon. We have a multidisciplinary team that is used in the cases of such difficult patients.

How Physical Therapy is Better Than Popping Pills For Arthritis? – Blog Empower Weightloss 07/07/2022

How Physical Therapy is Better Than Popping Pills For Arthritis?

The word arthritis is derived from the Greek words arthro-, meaning “joint,” and -itis, meaning “inflammation. It literally means inflammation of a joint. There are more than 100 types of arthritis but the most common of them all are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis involves degeneration of the articular cartilage which protects the bone ends within a joint. The joint articular cartilage helps to reduce the friction between the two ends of a joint. With increasing age, articular cartilage degeneration happens, and tendons along with ligaments have to work harder causing friction and eventually swelling and inflammation. On the other hand, Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system identifies the joints as foreign substances and mistakenly attacks them. This creates the inflammation in the tissues surrounding the joint (Synovium) which results in pain and swelling in and around the joints.

How Winters Elevate the Arthritis Pain?

When winter sets in, the cold temperature makes the muscles more prone to spasms due to which pain and stiffness in the joints are increased. Also, there is reduced blood circulation to the extremities like fingers and toes, which exaggerate the arthritic pain. Some studies find a strong relationship between short, cold, damp days and arthritis flare-ups. Research from Tufts University suggests changes in barometric pressure worsen knee pain in people with arthritis, while colder temps can cause painful changes in joint fluid thickness.

Below are some points mentioned that cause joint pain to increasing in winters:

The receptors of pain around the joints tend to be extra sensitive in winters.

There is drop-in atmospheric pressure in winters causing tissues to swell, building tension between joints and causing pain.

The muscles become prone to spasm due to which pain and stiffness in the joints are increased.

There is reduced blood circulation to the extremities like fingers and toes, which exaggerate the arthritic pain.

Due to less sunlight during winters there is a lower vitamin D level which leads to weak bones and joints.

Does Popping Pill Only Help in Reducing Arthritic Pain?

Management of arthritis is a multidimensional approach and is based on the severity of signs and symptoms. Treatment is focused to provide pain relief, increase joint mobility and strength, and limit the further progression of the disease. Treatment options include medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Your treatment plan may involve more than one of these options.

Risks and Side Effects of Arthritic Medicines

There are numerous medicines that are being prescribed in arthritis and most of them are having risks and side effects associated. It is not possible to list every side effect of medicines used in arthritis because every drug reacts differently and people also react differently to them. Do not do self-medication.

Before taking any medications, it is best to consult your doctor and have only the medicines prescribed by your doctor. The doctor (orthopaedics/ General physician) knows whether or not the medication is needed and if required- the ways to minimize medication side effects, such as to adjust the dosage or timing of medication, having it with food or having another medication to counteract the side effect.

How Physical Therapy Treatment is an Alternative Than Taking Pills in Arthritis?

For those who take pain medication on a consistent basis to deal with chronic joint pain, physical therapy is a treatment alternative. We teach the skills necessary to eliminate the pain and its triggers altogether, rather than providing a mask for the pain (Pain medication). With physical therapy, pain and stiffness are reduced and joint mobility is enhanced. This helps the patient to participate more in functional activities and improve his quality of life. Also, the need for medications is reduced to a lot extent and hence their side effects as well.

When Should You Visit a Physical Therapist?

If you find your activities of daily living are getting limited you may need to visit a physical therapist. Functional limitations can include anything from having difficulty in activities like getting in and out of chairs to climbing stairs, going for a walk in the neighbourhood, playing a sport or performing some recreational activities.

At Aktivhealth, we examine, diagnose the stage of arthritis and treat it to prevent further complications that actually affect the body’s ability to move and function in day to day life. With proper assessment of every patient, we plan a treatment protocol of exercises so as to improve flexibility, strength, coordination, and balance to achieve optimal physical function. Along with this, we train the individual for the proper posture and body mechanics for common daily activities to relieve pain and improve function. Also, we focus on the body’s ability to participate in movements and then train it to overcome functional limitations.
