Salon Luxe is now located in the suite where Salon Centro has been for 20 years inside of Salons of Manhattan at 2800 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey. I am working at Salon Luxe every other Tuesday and the occasional Saturday. I am also on the North Shore at Kent Jacob Salon located inside of Franco's Athletic Club in Mandeville at 100 Bon Temps Roule every Thursday. This is a long bittersweet post that is very difficult for me to write. I've thought about this moment for several months now trying to gather my thoughts and translate them into a beautiful and meaningful tribute and somewhat of a farewell. But alas, it will probably not be as eloquent as I had hoped. You see...today I went through and cleaned out 20 years of my life. Salon Centro, in a way, was sort of like my first child. I first opened the doors when I was 20 years old, a mere baby. I was wide eyed, filled with wonder and hopeful for the future. My dad always taught me to dream big and go after those dreams, and that was exactly what I did. I built my business from the ground up. I started with a very small but loyal clientele which quickly grew into a booming business, thanks to great word of mouth. As with any business I faced lots of hurdles. Those hurdles, which seemed like impossible mountains to me at the time, turned out to be blessings and closed doors. Sometimes I would ask myself what could I have done differently, but in reality I was failing my way to success. In 20 years I've gotten knocked down plenty of times, but I never stayed down. I always picked myself up, brushed myself off and wiped the tears away. Each time I got up I was stronger. I've met some fabulous people, traveled to some pretty amazing places, raised a ton of money for great causes, and won some pretty big awards....all because of this industry that has been so great to me. Most salons don't last 10 years, let alone 20! I am super proud of my accomplishments and I am also very grateful for this opportunity and every memory I have of it, good or bad. With that being said, this isn't completely goodbye, but it is the end of this chapter. One thing I know for certain though is that God is always in control. Thank you so much to everyone who was ever a part of Salon Centro. You will forever be in my heart.

I am so blessed to have served you at Salon Centro for the past 20 years! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you. 2016 will definitely bring some major changes for Salon Centro so stay tuned! ~Holly Shannon
