Hi yall just a little intro of myself for you
Most barbershops want you in and out. We... want you to stay.
At Low Ear, Kodak makes sure you’re well taken care of (our dog, our HR department, depending on who you ask).
In our lounge, we’ve got espressos, coconut water, or a real drink, your pick. There’s a bookshelf full of titles from my personal collection, take one home if it speaks to you. Wifi if you need to work. A sound system playing custom seasonal playlists from real DJs, not the old timer playing the same 2 loops on his piano in a hotel lobby.
Then our amazing team sits down with you to talk about your hair before they touch it, because to us here at Low Ear, consultations are the most important part of the haircut and we never rush the process and you leave looking how you wanted to.
So... show up early. Stay late. Bring your laptop, get some work done, Kodak’s not rushing you out the door.
Next time you’re in New York → link in bio to book.

The doom scrolling has been real the last couple of weeks. I’ve noticed that when I spend too much time on my phone I feel almost hungover or sick through out the day and it takes longer than I want to admit to shake it off… so if you feel the same here are a few things that help rest set my mind 🫰🏼🐀

I didn’t write these to sound wise. I wrote them because I needed to hear them years before anyone said them to me.
This is the unedited version of what it actually took: the doubt that overstayed, the starting before I felt ready, the things I held onto way too long.
None of it came fast. Most of it came right after getting it wrong, which I guess is how you learn in life!
So, if you’re in the middle of your own version of this, take whatever lands and leave the rest for later.
Put down the phone. Sit somewhere quiet. And ask yourself when you last remember being fully in a moment, not capturing it, not half-watching it, not already thinking about the next one. Just in it.
We’ve gotten to a point in life where our phones are where we spend countless hours of our day, everything had turned into a big blur, and if you slow down tonight and try to think back on a time where you were really living in the moment, more likely than not, you’ll come up empty. So, really... put down your phone, and let’s turn the clock back to when times were a bit simpler, and living was larger.
Low Ear is that clock turned back. A record store where the music spins every single day. Where the needle and the room and the people in it are the whole point.
The city won’t slow down for you. But we will.
Come find us. 🤍
At the start of every year I try to make a list of what I want to accomplish and this year felt like a good time to make goals that weren’t based on survival, but on growth.
Some of the goals I’m proud to say we have already accomplished! Like having do a hands on class with the entire staff! And even though London marathon wasn’t my best, we did see the finish line and that’s all I wanted to do.
So will I make it to 100k?? Will we be fully booked in the shop one solid day??? We already started the year strong by adding to our team so I’m so excited to see where we end up when December hits.

10 sentences. 10 different moments they found me.
Some on a bad day. Some when I was already okay but needed to hear it anyway. Some I rolled my eyes at the first time and then quietly wrote down a week later.
What they all taught me, eventually, is that nothing in your life changes until you do.
Not the place, not the timing, not the people who were never going to get it. The waiting doesn’t warm the water. The comfort doesn’t quiet the regret. The wings don’t show themselves until you move.
You feel what you need to feel. You hold close who’s worth holding close. You stop flinching at the hard thing and walk toward it anyway.
That’s the whole lesson, in 10 different voices.
Save the ones that found you today. 🤍
You’ve seen me talk about new wash enough times to know i mean it. We use it at the shop every day and genuinely love it.
So if you’ve been sitting on the fence because of the price, today’s literally your sign. Hairstory is running upto 25% off and it ends tomorrow.
Use my code or comment “Hairstory” below and I’ll send you the link directly.
