How to paint fabric without it cracking or being brittle using latex paint. Spray it with a misting water bottle one section at a time and then paint that section. Paint the 1st coat. Let it dry. SAND IT with a 220 grit sanding block. REPEAT (mist, paint, sand) until it’s the color you want. NOTE paint it a darker color than the fabric if possible or you’ll need at least 3 coats of paint. I ended up not top-coating or scotch guarding because it’s not in a high traffic area. If it was in my living room, I would have sealed the paint.
