people love to act like the hardest part of being a young woman in trucking is “good luck finding a man.” not the comments. not the staring. not the weird little moments that make your skin crawl but somehow are never “bad enough” for anyone to care. not constantly being expected to smile, stay quiet, and keep working like nothing happened. that’s the part nobody warns you about. after a while, i stopped reacting. stopped trying to explain why certain things felt off. stopped making a scene, because somehow that always became the bigger issue. so now i just do my job. keep my head down. get through the day. and let people believe whatever they want. but sure… tell me again how the real tragedy is that this job might make me “too intimidating” for men. because apparently being disrespected in a male-dominated industry is easier for people to laugh at than admit.
