Fungal acne is not actually acne (and if you have been treating it like acne, that is probably why nothing is working).

In this week’s episode of , Nichola breaks down what Malassezia folliculitis actually is, to why the dandruff shampoo hack you have seen all over social is making things worse, to the PT routine that actually addresses the root cause.

Today’s Skinspiration Monday is EXTRA SPECIAL 👧🏽

I noticed my baby girl was starting to get breakouts last summer … confirming Nooshie has her Mama’s acne prone skin.

The timing of everything tracks in terms of her physical development but I ain’t gonna lie, Mama was in denial about her baby girl growing up.

Now life can hand us proud autism but acne breakouts …. not on this acne specialist’s watch…. not today Satan… not today 😂😂😂

I knew that because of Nooshie’s challenges I would have to ease her into a routine sooner rather than later and honestly I have been pleasantly surprised at how receptive she’s been so far 😮‍💨

Because her forehead breakouts looked like they could sprout into something more intense I started her on Roccoco’s teen cleanser at night which is antibacterial, antifungal and doesn’t strip the skin (I have Lilac and Flint supple cleanser as her gentle cleanser when I feel like her skin needs extra care)

We also have been using Roccoco’s purifying essence on the forehead area (and nose and chin preventively) and Aunty Bonnie’s Pranvera Blemish Gel as a spot treatment.

Noosh is currently on Lilac and Flint Nourish moisturizer (and I have Roccoco sulfur mask waiting in the wings if we need it)

Nooshie uses the Lilac and Flint Prism SPF ☀️

Here’s the thing that’s bugged me for years ….why do most “red carpet” style facials assume your skin can handle anything?

So many of the “high-touch-to-get-glass-skin” facials are loaded with things that will wreak havoc on sensitive, acne prone skin.

Which means we left out of the glow conversation completely 😟…. like we have to choose between looking lit up for an event and not breaking out the week after.

We don’t think thats fair so we (our ingredient guru Kim actually) built the Lift & Glow.

Lift you’ll see walking out. Skin that’s still happy with you next week.

K-beauty is everywhere. But is it actually good for acne-prone skin?

In our most recent episode of , chimes into the K-Beauty craze conversation. The 10-step routine, glass skin, pimple patches, slugging, sunscreen and more. What is worth it, what to skip, and what your skin actually needs.

Spoiler: “non-comedogenic” means nothing. Your ingredient deck is everything.

Your skin is trying to tell you something, it’s not asking for spironolactone.

✨ SKINSPIRATION MONDAY ✨

This is what a post-pill purge looks like ….and what can come after 💛

When this PT Fam-er first came in, she had close to perfect skin. A few small clusters of closed comedones on her chin, nothing more.

She’d just stopped birth control, tretinoin and Benzyol peroxide to start trying for a baby.

Four months later, she was back at PT and her skin had erupted.

Deep, painful congestion with a ton of inflammation. The kind of breakouts that start to take over your life.

If you’ve been there, you know how isolating it feels. Especially when you’re doing “everything right.”

She and Ariana jumped into action:

✅Monthly facials
✅A consistent home routine
✅Patience through the worst of it (the hardest part)
✅Trusting the process when her skin felt like a stranger’s

Post-pill purges are REAL. Your hormones are recalibrating and your skin is the loudest messenger (aka your guardian angel)

When your skin has been on topicals like tretinoin and benzoyl peroxide for years, it compounds things.

Your skin has been relying on those actives to keep breakouts suppressed so when you stop, you’re not just dealing with a hormonal shift, you’re also seeing everything those products were holding back.

It doesn’t mean something is wrong with you, it means your body is finding its rhythm again 🥁

Shoutout to Ariana for guiding this beautiful soul through one of the most intense purges she’s ever seen.

Now the focus is mainly on reducing and fading out the pesky marks left behind by blemishes and taking care of a little residual congestion.

This is the work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
