🌈 LGBT pride month was chosen in the USA to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, which occurred at the end on June in 1969.
🌈 The first gay parade (parades) were held the weekend on June 27th & 28th in Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles & San Francisco.
🌈 The first rainbow flag 🏳️‍🌈, as a gay pride symbol, made its debut at the San Francisco Pride Parade in 1978. Gilbert Baker was the designer of this flag.
🌈The first American politician who became the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California was Harvey Milk.
🌈The original LGBT flag, which was hand-dyed, consisted of 8 colors:
Hot Pink (sexuality), Red (life), Orange (healing), Yellow (sunlight), Green (nature), Turquoise (magic/art), Blue (serenity/harmony), Purple (spirit).
🌈 Later Hot pink & Turquoise we’re take out due to production constraints and the need for design symmetry.
🌈 In 1994 Gilbert Baker led the creation of the longest rainbow flag (1 mile) to honor the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The Guinness Book of World Records recognized it as the world’s largest flag.
