Why do we abuse our scalp skin like this?

This is an image of one my most amazing guest, who's scalp was magnified with my Scalp-Scope, AFTER a "protective style".

What you see is scalp debris, build up of sebum (scalps natural oil) and OILING of the scalp, and BLOOD from an abrasion made from SCRATCHING the skin.

The human body’s largest organ is the skin. It is active, living tissue. It serves as tough but flexible armor to keep harmful microbes, chemicals or strong rays of light away from more sensitive inner tissues.

The skin you scrub every day is only the outermost layer, called the epidermis (Ep-ih-DER-mis).
The epidermis is constantly shedding dead cells from its surface as new ones grow to take their places.

So if our scalp skin is CONSTANTLY shedding dead cells for NEW ones to grow, wouldn't it be important to shampoo and keep the scalp skin clean and NOT keep it in the state that's in the picture?
