4 Books that will change your perspective 💡
📕 Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman
This unique take on time management offers the antidote for the over stressed busy human- a respite in a sea of life hacks and doing so much. This offers a funny and extremely insightful approach to embracing your time here.
📕 Atomic Habits by James Clear
If you’ve heard even a little bit about the authors story then you know he’s led quite a remarkable life. His story is very interesting and weaved into this practical and very informative guide to creating better systems for your life. His approach is radically different from what most books about goals and habits and the like offer. But once he breaks down this method it makes such perfect sense you’ll wonder why you haven’t heard it before. The details, the antidotes and the graphics makes this such an interesting read but the substance of what he’s offering here, can really change your approach to getting things done.
📕The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
I learned about this classic artists guidebook by eavesdropping on a bookstore 🤣 I then promptly inserted myself into the conversation! This method, which was first taught by the author in Manhattan to help unblock creatives, now it’s a widely known and celebrated guide for many. We all have a creative spirit and tools like the morning pages have been utilized by many. This is a book that is a beautiful journey if you choose to take it. (P.S. I’m starting a book club for this one DM me if interested in joining)
📕 The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk MD
This book is powerful and helps the reader to unravel and understand trauma and how it impacts the body and mind. The author has worked with survivors for over 30 years. He shares about his work, other leaders in the field and discoveries. I haven’t finished this one yet but I’m really learning so much and can’t wait to share more.
Have you read any of these books? Any of the on your TBR list or are you adding them now?

This is a turbulent time full of so many emotions. We are all going through it in different ways. But these feelings of helplessness, fear, trauma, loss and grief we cannot fully process because it just doesn’t make sense- isn’t new to Black people. It’s our everyday lives. Trauma is embedded into our beings.
My husband is an essential worker so in the midst of this pandemic he’s risking his life every time he walks out the door. That’s not much different than any other day as a black man or woman in America. Sometimes when he was rushing in the morning he used to run for the train, until one day with tears in my eyes I asked him not to do that anymore. I was so scared that his actions would be seen as a threat or criminal- a simple run down the street. When we were first married I used to wait up for him each night. I’m thankful he’s always made it home safe but many other families have different stories to tell.
I could write for ages about the experiences I’ve personally encountered- starting with the time a white boy called me black garbage on the school bus in elementary school, to being followed around stores to the lightly veiled racism people have spewed towards my children. But I don’t have the emotional capacity right now and I’m just too thankful I can go and play with my children. I pray for their safely every single day and teach them to be brave and show them that they are free and I will wait as long as I possibly can before telling them the truth about the world we live in.
This is my quiet revolution- raising vibrant, wild and free, nature loving, dancers who sing and laugh and read and are kind and compassionate and represent a beautiful hope for a better future for all of us.

I have spent the last couple of weeks using products and I can say they are amazing, versatile and great on my skin. I’m really loving their new lip scrub which is made of 5 simple ingredients including locally grown coffee beans. Most lip scrubs are super messy so I love the convenience and ease of this compact. This scrub is easy to use no matter where you are and smells so good. It leaves my lips so soft and smooth. Have you used lip scrubs before?
