I’m beyond grateful to share that The Ebony Canal will be screening at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France🇫🇷! This is a monumental moment one of the first maternal/infant health films to grace this stage. Huge thanks to our incredible producer, the entire crew, and the powerful voiceover by Viola Davis. Every mother, every story is seen here. Together, we rise, we advocate, and we make history. Join us in this movement!

Just a tad bit late , but still standing strong and 10 toes down
in the spirit of Women’s History Month …….

I’m beyond grateful for yet another blessing from God to be part of something so impactful, so purposeful, and so necessary. Thank you to the Ebony Canal production team for trusting me to contribute to a story that amplifies the importance of women’s maternal health and the reality of access to proper care during pregnancy.

This is bigger than a moment it’s movement, it’s awareness, it’s legacy.

To have this powerful message brought to life with narration by EGOT winner Viola Davis is truly an honor and a privilege.

We are creating history with a dynamic, purpose driven cast and crew I’m just grateful to be a vessel.

Keep going. Don’t give up. Your yes can make a difference.

xoxo

I still can’t believe I won an NAACP award for Documentary. Someone pinch me.🙏🏽

A little late, but in honor of Women’s History Month, I want to pause and celebrate a few recent blessings.

After saying yes to being part of a documentary by the grace of God so many beautiful doors began to open. Since then, I’ve had the honor of being connected to projects recognized by the NAACP, and celebrated through the Emmys Tellys and Webby Awards, as well as the Urban Film Festival.

Moments like these remind me that purpose, faith, and obedience can take you places you never imagined. I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity, every collaborator, and every lesson along the way.

Here’s to continuing to walk boldly by faith not by sight and celebrating the power of women who dare to keep going and while putting God 1st. 🙏🏽

With much gratitude,
-EM

In The Ebony Canal, we had the honor of featuring the extraordinary , a pioneering voice in the fight for equity in maternal and infant health.

As the creator of the groundbreaking IRTH App, Kimberly is reimagining what care can and should look like for Black and Brown women and birthing folks. By allowing parents to review and share their hospital and provider experiences through an equity lens, (like “birth,” but without the “B” for bias) is literally moving the needle toward actionable, data-driven change.

Her work isn’t just about advocacy, it’s about building systems of accountability and empowerment, ensuring every birth story is heard, honored, and used to spark progress.

We’re beyond grateful to have Kimberly’s brilliance, leadership, and unshakable commitment to justice woven into . Her impact continues to ripple far beyond the screen.
Makeup by yours truly.
