How to bang for summer 2024.

Bright highlights with some *grey blending* between the foils.
*What is grey blending?
It’s removing some of the grey, not all of it. I paint color (similar to the natural or base color) between some of the foils to blend areas that are particularly grey.

While not everything in this article is accurate, it is important to share this (recovery) side effect of COVID. Sudden hair loss can happen from stress, a traumatic event or a major illness or hospital stay.

When clients take a selfie after getting their hair done (after 4 months)...
Yesterday Governor Cuomo announced that NYC will start Phase 2 on Monday, June 22nd. As far as we know, that means salons will be opening next week. I hope you are as excited as I am to go back.
My schedule for July and August is Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (8:30am to 8pm).
Clients, I sent out an email this morning with booking information. If you don't receive anything, check your spam folder or reach out and I will send it to you.

Even though I'm clearly past adolescent, I'm quoted in an article for Girl's Life.
How to sun, surf and sand-proof your hair You may be craving some fun in the sun after being stuck in quarantine, but before getting immersed in the new season, consider what may be lingering beneath the surface: serious damage to your strands. Your mane has the potential...

The body deals with stress in different ways and one of them is hair loss.
Telogen Effluvium
This is a reversible condition where hair falls out after a stressful event. The pandemic certainly qualifies.
If you start to notice that your hair is shedding in a few months, know that you have gone through or are experiencing a traumatic event. You may even notice pain, itchiness and stinging of the scalp before the hair sheds.
The stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Typically, with this condition, about 30% of the hairs stop growing and go into their resting phase before falling out. Within a few months, those hairs can fall out. You may lose 300 hairs a day instead of the normal 100.
The good news, it usually resolves itself in 6 to 9 months.
To help your hair grow back healthy and strong, make sure to eat a diet that includes protein-rich foods like meat, eggs, fish, beans, grains and nuts. Iron-rich foods can also help. I certainly recommend taking a multi-vitamin that includes biotin. More than anything else, patience and staying centered are key.

About me.
I’m Amy. I’m originally from the coast of New Hampshire, where I was raised with a passion for theater and the arts. After college I moved to NYC, and worked in special events, marketing and public relations for theater and the Broadway community. While looking for the perfect job, I met someone going to cosmetology school. My life changed in an instant…I decided in that moment that I wanted to do hair.
After graduating from the Aveda Institute, I joined Arrojo Studio's intense training program. I studied under some of the most knowledgeable and talented hair stylists in the industry. I learned the craft of coloring hair, color theory and how to achieve desired results. I built a clientele, traveled, taught classes and represented the brand for 13 years as Master Colorist, Texture Specialist and Educator. I now work for myself at Prince + Broad Salon in SoHo.
My specialty is creating beautiful, natural, effortless hair --- hair that looks like you just returned from a perfect, sun-kissed vacation. I love working on bright, classic and lived-in blondes and vibrant, dimensional brunettes and redheads. I use a combination of foils, balayage (hair painting) and all-over single processes to achieve these looks. The perfect color can also be enhanced by changing the hair texture with straighteners and waves. These will smooth and straighten hair, making a blowout easier to manage or give someone the wavy beach hair she has always wanted.
